Some more updates from KN at Army All-American Game

- 4* WR Henry Ruggs says an official to AU might still happen. KN thinks its a Bama/FSU battle

- 4* DE Jarez Parks is thought to be a big Bama lean but AU will get an official visit on Jan 20th. Him or Bryant gives us that pass rushing DE we want

- Something interesting to watch 4* WR D.D. Bowie is an Ole Miss commit but is apparently looking around because of his concerns about their NCAA punishment. Says he has an official visit setup with Mississippi State for January 20th and is talking to AU & MIA about taking visits there. He also point blank stated he would commit to FSU if they offered so there's that...

- Also 4* S Devon Hunter is thinking about visiting Ole Miss. We were so close from benefitting from Crime Dog's recruiting skillz....

Updating Auburn targets' performance, recruiting status from Under Armour All-America Game (AL.com)
quote:

AUBURN COMMITS

K Anders Carlson - 2 field goals from 36 and 39 yards, one PAT, one tackle, 5 kickoffs for 227 yards (45.4 average, 1 out of bounds)

OL Calvin Ashley - started at left tackle for Highlight

LB Chandler Wooten - played, no stats recorded (early enrollee)

AUBURN TARGETS

DL Tyree Johnson - 1 sack (Texas A&M commit, may visit Auburn in January, high school teammate of Calvin Ashley)

DE Markaviest Bryant - 1 sack

I think Ashley started at RG not LT. I thought Ashley looked good in what I saw. He's a beast run blocking. Carlson lived up to hype as well. That onside kick was perfect but cover guys didn't play it right. I honestly never heard Wooten's name. Was hoping he would have a decent performance this week but I don't think he did all that much

The recruits I'm excited about and who I think Auburn can really use, folks:
Stidham
Ashley
Moultry
Britt
Wooten
Askew
Devan Barrett
Anders Carlson
Iggy
Troxell
Sal

11 players folks. Everybody else: move them, feed them steroids, or get rid of them.

So you think we have a good recuiting class

Hardly. At best, it's front loaded and uneven. Definitely not a class that is good top to bottom. Not one to help build real depth which forces completion which forces the scholarship eaters to hit the road.

11 contributors is a good not great class

You seem to have nothing in between great and dumpster fire

I also think you can add Matthews and Brahms to your list

11 starters maybe. Not just contributors.

I never said we had a dumpster fire. You and others seems to ignore the qualifiers within the arguments. If you think I have, be my guest and embarrass yourself on this board.

If anything, you're doing the very thing you have accused me of doing.

Your quote:

quote:

This recruiting class is pathetic. Other than QB, OT, and some linebackers, we have missed on everybody.

"This recruiting class is pathetic"

I'm sure you'll try and twist it to mean something else though.

" Other than" introduced a key qualifier and "pathetic" is a subjective term. If I wanted to, I could attribute any non- dumpsterf-fire class as pathetic and it still make logical sense.

Other than, the way you used it, is not a qualifier for the first sentence.

If you said "the recruiting class is pathetic other than QB, OL, and LB" then it would be a qualifier. But that's not how you used it. Other than qualifies your statement of we missed on everybody.

quote:

pathetic" is a subjective term.

So is good, great, dumpster fire. What's your point?

quote:

You can describe almost anything with an adjective and it makes logical sense. Again, What's your point?

Calling this class "pathetic" is just flat out wrong. You know it. I know it. Everybody here knows it.

I'm hoping he lands at FSU. I think he's gonna be a beast and don't wanna deal with him at Bama but that looks very likely...

AU has offered 4* WR Oliver Martin

Ranking range widely on this kid. 247 has him as a top 100 kid and #11 WR but his composite is way lower. Top kid in state of Iowa

Kid looks scrappy, definitely a gym rat. I assume he gives 110% on every play.

2017 is a big year. There is a clear power vacuum after Bama and we are in prime position to step into it. UGA & LSU are breaking in new coaches while Tennessee & A&M are floundering and UF is just kind of hanging around at mediocre. We return basically everyone that matters on offense and add a very talented JUCO QB. Our defense loses some studs up front but probably the one position group we have a large amount of great depth is the DL. If there was ever a year to be the team to challenge Bama next year is a great opportunity and it could really help us on the recruiting trail.

I have been a big proponent of keeping Gus around but next season is kind of the do or die year for me. We need a 10 win season in the worst way and honestly I think the opportunity is clearly there to do it if we don't whirly bird it away....

Pretty much word for word how I feel. As frustrating as the last two seasons have been at times it just feels like we are a QB away from being right there.

Stidham is a proven QB and we get bama and UGA at home next year and everybody else should be down a little. We really need to go at least 10-2 next season.

Sucks we lose Bishop to a school that already has the #2 and 3 players at his position committed.
