Atrittion rates from either graduation or transfer plays a part too

That usually factors in to how many you recruit in a year.

Usually I would agree 6 is probably too much but considering 3 of our guys have missed significant time due to injuries (white, Stidham, queen) and the staff doesn't really trust Franklin we need some bodies. I suspect we don't have 6 QBs on roster come the fall. The main thing is the staff wants a freshman QB every year. This year we just have the added bonus of bringing a talented transfer.

We have a couple QBs that need to be Sabaned then. I'm all for it. Some holier than thou folks think Auburn should be above that though.

Get rid of Queen and move Franklin elsewhere and we're at 4. I don't see any need for Queen or Franklin to be working at QB next year for us.

That would give us two quality QBs who could play if need be and 2 young guys with no experience. That's how it always should be IMO.

Also did Fuente really want Willis at QB? I've read where he was being recruited at DB for VT.

There's zero reason to have more than 4 QBs

Unless your 4 QBs are Sean White, Jeremy Johnson, JFIII, and Tyler Queen.

In that case you cut, Johnson and Queen and get two new QBs. So you should still only have 4

i don't think he'll be on the roster after this spring

Would hope he'll stay at Auburn on injury scholarship.

He was, that is why he decommitted. Wants a chance to play QB and VT wasn't giving him that option.t

Well that significantly diminishes any excitement I had for the kid

A bunch of schools didn't want Lamar Jackson at QB.

It happens a lot with these dual threat guys. But I see where that diminishes the Fuente scouting that we thought we were benefiting from.

I'm a fan of having more than 4 QBs on roster. If they don't turn out these days they just switch positions or transfer anyways.

Lamar had a lot more interest at QB than this kid.

Not going to argue this at length since it wasn't necessarily my point to begin with but most of his bigger school offers, such as FSU, were for defense.

But anyway, yeah.

Bud Foster and VT do a great job evaluating DBs... The fact he's a good enough athlete to play defense there combined with his QB potential make him a solid prospect for our offense.

A lot of his bigger offers were for defense.

Jackson had more interest from schools to be their QB than Willis.

Explain how those conflict.
