I thought Brennan decommitted?
It was reported he decommitted but a couple days later he came out and said he was still committed but was opening his recruitment back up.
Now he shut it back down.

Brennan is still trying to figure out which way is up after Britt decleated him Saturday.
I really don't know how you can blame him. He had it handed to him.

Auburn views new signee Salvatore Cannella as a red zone threat (AL.com)
quote:
"That's really what we wanted," Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said during his Wednesday afternoon press conference. "We were wanting a long body that had receiver skills that could present some different things and I think Sal really gives us that look."
Auburn tight ends have caught just 26 passes for 341 yards and eight touchdowns in the last four years. Jalen Harris' 25-yard touchdown catch on a trick play at Ole Miss was the only reception by an Auburn tight end in the last two years.
When Malzahn was Auburn's offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2009-2011, the late Phillip Lutzenkirchen became the most decorated tight end in Auburn's record books by catching 54 passes for 562 yards and 14 touchdowns.

This Gatewood kid. How is he so highly ranked when he doesn't start at QB?

Auburn recruiting mailbag: Running backs, Joey Gatewood and predictions (SECCountry)
quote:
Q: Do you think Jarrett Stidham’s decision will affect the recruitment of Joey Gatewood?
Stidham’s addition — plus the growing interest in Lowell Narcisse — changes the entire quarterback discussion at Auburn. Instead of an empty-ish room, the numbers are growing rapidly: Sean White, Tyler Queen, Woody Barrett, John Franklin III, Jarrett Stidham and (maybe) Lowell Narcisse.
Joey Gatewood, the 4-star foundation of the 2018 recruiting class, is the next man up.
While there is some crowding, that isn’t going to scare away Gatewood. He is an uber-competitor who already knows what it’s like to endure quarterback competition, as it’s something he has had to deal with at Bartram Trail (Fla.)
Gatewood committed to Auburn when there was still a high chance the Tigers landed Kellen Mond. That didn’t steer the 2018 dual-threat commit away. Neither will Stidham who doesn’t have a full four years of eligibility. Neither would Narcisse, who Gatewood could probably come in and out-perform from the start.
As I’ve said before, there’s only one thing that could force Gatewood to reconsider his commitment: Rhett Lashlee taking a job elsewhere.

His ranking is all over the board with people. Rivals dropped him out of the top 100 while ESPN has him top 15
No one contests that he is an elite athlete. There's a reason he was the 1 of the 3 QBs they moved around and that's because he can play QB, RB, WR & return kicks. Next season I THINK it will be down to just him and another guy so we should see what he has
So the short answer is no one really knows if he's a great QB or not but everyone pretty much agrees he's a big time athlete

What Wesley McGriff reports mean for Auburn recruiting (SECCountry)
quote:
It should be noted, Gonzalez was caught off guard by the news.
“That’s gonna be a blow. Really I just wanted to be under McGriff,” Gonzalez told SEC Country. “I might have to wait and see, but I might have to open it back up.”
Gonzalez will try to be patient and believe in Auburn. He’s been committed since Aug. 8, 2015, which has extended through two defensive backs coach with a potential third on the way.
quote:
But, if any of the four are a sure thing to stick around, Leonard is probably it. He indicated he knew the situation he was getting into when he changed his decision from the Tar Heels to the Tigers.
“Yeah I saw it coming. I’m still gonna be 100 percent committed,” Leonard told SEC Country.
quote:
If the news stung someone most, it was likely Askew.
The 4-star athlete has been the unofficial spokesperson for the 2017 recruiting class. His relationship with McGriff might have run as deep as anyone. Askew and his father shared a close bond with McGriff that evidenced itself on unofficial and official visits.
Askew didn’t comment on the reports, but he posted and retracted a tweet that suggested the McGriff move wasn’t expected.
quote:
The big thing to watch here: How the new coach perceives Peters.
He is about as under-ranked as you can get, falling outside the top 1,000 prospects in the nation. If a new secondary coach comes in late in the process, it’s possible he will have his eyes on other recruits.
Peters will likely want to protect himself here. I think the official visits are a sure thing. Remember, though, Peters grew up an Auburn fan. As long as the Tigers make a smart, swift hire, Peters should remain on board.

Askew confirmed with KN he is sticking with AU. It's kinda late for him anyway since he wants to participate in bowl practice. Said Gus called him before everything leaked

Gus doesn't care about defense tho
