So basically Gus got himself a QB that he is willing to use in the redzone and he got a redzone target to go along with his new toy right before Christmas. And y'all try to say there aint no Santa.

So apparently Avery has yet to announce. No one seems to know why from a quick search....

Thought the same, all was quoted from espn article.

Let's hope canella can beef up a little on the offseason even though he's a receiving TE. My TE prayers may finally be answered and I can stop bitching about Gus not using one.

Isn't this the kid whose dad played for McGriff? And we lost him to Todd Grantham?

Ya it is but with all the uncertainty around where McGriff is gonna be next season not surprised he went elsewhere. Also he thinks he can get on the field day 1 at Louisville

The only way to think that is if you buy into the sunshiny parts of Tigerpaw's posts

I'm fine with this week, I don't give a shite. I wanted a pass catching TE and got it. The more open spots going into January the better imo. Even without DC and WM, this staff closes above average January to NSD. We're not in almost any battles with Bama, who I can't stand NSD drama with, so I'm positively interested in seeing how this finishes. Never know who's going to visit, stupid secret visit, who's going to second guess their commitment to another school after the big jan 20 weekend, or who's going to pop out of no where. We've got a lot to sell with Stidham and Defense. Bowl game is going to prove it.

I'm fricking fine with our status.

We went 2 for 4 landing the 2 the greater positions of need with Stidham and Cannella. It wasn't that bad. Won't lie and say I am disappointed we couldn't get Avery but we hit the 2 we absolutely needed to get

Will be interesting to see after the dead period who we turn the heat on. I think we have 9 spots left but don't quote me on that. If I had to guess the board looks like

QB
4* Lowell Narcisse (announces January 1st)

RB
Done unless something happens with Alaric Williams or we drop Octavius Matthews

FB
3* Tory Carter (LSU commit that has interest in AU)
3* Chase Lasater (former Michigan commit we just started recruiting harder)

WR
4* Henry Ruggs (probably not gonna happen)
3* Tamorrion Terry (trailing FSU & grade concern)
3* Marlon Williams (no offer but we started talking to him during AL/MS Game)
or we could just pass on another WR

TE
pretty sure we are done though a few weeks ago KN mentioned us possibly going for 2, you would think the 2nd would have to be a freshman and not JUCO

OL
4* Tony Gray (haven't talked to him much but no one knows what he's doing)
4* Netori Johnson (seems pretty solid to UGA but might take official)
3* Jordan Tucker (former Tennessee commit that really wants an offer)
3* Caleb Chandler (another backup plan on the radar)

DL
5* Aubrey Solomon (running 4th right now but he will officially visit)
4* Ryan Johnson (considered favorite but Stanford a real threat)
4* Markavies Bryant (seems heavy lean to UGA)
3* Alec Jackson (USC current favorite but only place he has officially visited, grew up AU fan)
3* Tyree Johnson (Aggie commit we started pushing for, teammates with Calvin Ashley)
3* Tyrone Truesdell (I think he is lower on our board)

LB
4* Nate McBride (pipe dream at this point but will officially visit)
4* Tyler Taylor (KN has hinted we might not push for him)
3* Thomas Johnston (he's mentioned he might officially visit AU)
we could be done at this spot it's unclear what staff thinks right now

CB
done with Leonard & Askew unless someone big time like Christopher Henderson wanted to jump on board

S
4* Devon Hunter (KN says AU is surging however VT will be tough to beat)
4* Tray Bishop (former commit now trending UGA, will officially visit)
3* JaTarvious Whitlow (grades are a concern but if they are in line would be a Tiger)

So basically it's up in the air on how exactly AU finishes. There are some big pieces on the board but feels like we are trailing significantly for a lot of them. Like I said we will have better feel when dead period ends and the wild last month of recruiting starts

So you just listed pretty much every decent target left, including many guys we have pretty much no shot for, and we might sign 3-4 max.

Gonna need to have to pull something our of our A to have a really good class.

I listed who our top targets are not sure exactly who you would have me leave off or not list. All but really Tony Gray are planning on officially visiting AU. Care to throw together a better list?

No there's nothing really wrong with your list it just kind of sucks that it's mid December and our two biggest targets have a decent shot at are a low four star and three star DL.

fair enough

It's weird this year in that really our top guys are already on board. Calvin Ashley, Jarrett Stidham and Tadarrian Moultry are big time recruits but already committed.

My money is on Garner stealing somebody out of Georgia in either Bryant or Solomon. He seems to do something like that every year so even though those 2 seem like longshots right now it just feels right he takes one of them

I don't foresee a grand finale this year though. We have been spoiled in the past. This is a quality class that addresses some big needs so I won't be disappointed in it but it does feel like it could have been better
