Auburn's pitch to Alex Leatherwood: player development (247)

quote:

Will Auburn’s pitch work? Can Auburn sway Letherwood?

Leatherwood is no ordinary recruit, both in ability and mentality. By all accounts, the 6-feet-6, 327-pound prospect, the No. 2 tackle nationally in the 247Sports Composite, has an advanced mental approach. More than anything, he wants his body and his skills to be pushed and taken as far as they can go by his college position coach — and people close to him believe he has the drive to make it happen.

Although Leatherwood committed to the Tide more than a year and a half ago, he has developed a strong relationship with Hand. It helps that a close friend, 4-star guard Nick Brahms, is a Tigers commit.

The plan is for the Tigers to swing for the fences.

Because of Hand’s track record for player development, you never know — the Tigers might have a “punchers chance” in this recruitment.

I have 1% faith it will happen but after all the shite they have pulled on us over the years would love for just once we got one over on them

Radio said it was a tribute after the fact to cover for his dumbass decision. He then spelled his cousin's name wrong.

SEC Conference report: Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game (Rivals)

quote:

On the field: Tigers wide receiver Noah Igbinoghene continues to be one of the most impressive wide receivers at the event, and on Wednesday was again the most consistent wide receiver on his team …. Auburn target CJ Avery had a solid day of workouts, as he shined during 7-on-7 work and was one of the coaches’ favorite players during morning drills … Tigers linebacker commits K.J. Britt and Tadarian Moultry also had a good day of practice, with both clearly ready to start hitting in full contact. Britt was consistently disruptive during team drills, often blowing up plays in the backfield before they could get started … Tigers defensive end target Ryan Johnson has been as dominant as expected, but he did make an impressive pick-six on a screen pass during team drills. Johnson is very athletic for a player his size, it’s just about finding the right coach to tap into his immense potential.

The guy is clearly a moron. But he's a damn good LB. I wonder if he would be close to this good if he came to Auburn.

AL-MS Game: WR vs DB (Both Teams)

AL-MS Game: WR vs DB part 2 (Alabama)

AL-MS Game: OL vs DL Part 2 (Alabama)

AL-MS Game: Auburn commits roll, Brennan and Akers excite

I believe Rivals only site that has Noah as 3*. Betting that changes before the final rankings are released

In Plains Sight: All-star Tigers and Jarrett Stidham Update (SECCountry)

quote:

Here is what he had to say about Auburn. It’s a longer quote, but people will take any Stidham soundbites they can get these days.

“It’s a great school, great coaches. In the past six, seven years, they’ve had a lot of success. Two national-title appearances in the last seven years. Like I said, obviously a lot of success. Good history. Great players and great coaches. The SEC is a little bit of a different world of football than what I played in. It’s the best of the best. Especially in the West. It’s good to sit down and talk with those guys. We had a great visit this time last week with those coaches. Got to meet a bunch of players and hang out with them. It was a really good visit up there. I’m still talking to those guys about every day, honestly. Everything with Auburn has been really good,” Stidham said.

He also commented about Florida and Texas A&M, but it didn’t really compare to the rave review he issued Auburn. That’s not to say you should look too much into those quotes, but Stidham had much deeper conversation regarding the Tigers.

I've always said no to this idea. We fans would have wanted him to start day 1 when he needed to sit a few years. Would have labeled him bust.

Any chance that TD Moultry can be moved to DE? We need a speed guy off the edge

I think that would be a mistake. I want Auburn to keep building on the good LB play we saw this year. Keep getting studs at that position and you're going to most likely have a good defense.

There is a reason DEs/3-4OLBs are drafted ahead of traditional LBs

The NFL is a passing league so pass rushers are a premium. The thing with College is that goofy spread offenses can just dink the ball around on you and minimize elite DE's, or run the option and take DE's out of the play.

We really don't have a problem finding DE's. I find it kind of silly to suggest converting the first potentially "elite" linebacker we've gotten since god knows when.

He and Chandler Wooten could move to the Buck spot. My best guess is right now Moultry plays behind Darrell Williams at the SAM and Wooten works at the Buck

KN says 3* TE Salvatore Cannella down to a top 3 of Maryland, Auburn & Texas. He plans to announce by the 17th. He officially visited Maryland last weekend, will officially visit AU from Thursday-Saturday then Texas on Sunday.

Seems to like the idea of playing in the SEC. This kid is more of a big WR than what we usually get at TE. Would be a nice redzone threat for those 1-2 pass attempts a year

pure DE, no. But I definitely think he's a Buck. See a lot of Khalil Mack in this dude's game. He's fast and can play the traditional ILB if needed and cover and stop the run, but can really really get after the passer too. He's a damn swiss army knife.

Four-star safety C.J. Avery aware of Wesley McGriff coaching rumors likes Auburn regardless (AL.com)

quote:

McGriff is Avery's primary recruiter at Auburn, and the two have a longstanding relationship. McGriff coached Avery's father at Kentucky State.

"We're actually pretty close, man -- one of the closest people I'm with in recruitment right now," Avery said.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Sunday during the Sugar Bowl teleconference that no schools had contacted him about speaking to McGriff regarding potential job openings -- at least not yet. While that could change in the weeks leading up to the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2, Avery said he's unsure if McGriff's potential departure would affect his decision-making process.

"I really don't know," Avery said. "I like Auburn as a program, so I wouldn't say it would affect me."

He gone if McGriff gone imo

Cornerback Malcolm Askew eager to join Auburn for bowl practices (AL.com)

quote:

"It's exciting, because I get to go down and participate in that," Askew told AL.com Monday during check-in for the All-Star Game. "It will be a great experience to get down there really. Being done with high school, it feels unreal, but I'm just ready to get to Auburn and get in there and complete and try to play early."

"As soon as I get there they want me to come in and play the Star position where Rudy Ford plays."

Him and Daniel Thomas will be fun battle to follow in the spring for that nickel spot
