In terms of a long term fix, yeah, but this guy could excel short term. He has the skill set to fit Auburn's offense and would be starting for Notre Dame if not for a potential 1st round pick being in front of him.

Don't underestimate his ability...

Looking like UF visit for Stidham is not going to happen according to Florida's 247 site. Stampini thinks it's AU or Kendal Briles. Worried Briles has something lined up and we are gonna get burned here late....

Hopefully he doesn't wind up as Houston's OC

or shoot, even worse, LSU's

Malzahn and Burns visited top WR target 4* Tarik Black who plans to have a decision this month. Called them genuine and said he would love to be around them for the next few years. Michigan has been the presumed leader but Black says his top 2 of us and Michigan are really close. AU might visit him again before end of contact period Sunday.

This would be a huge pull for Burns. He's been his lead recruiter and got him to official and now has us in his top 2. Going to be hard though to beat out Michigan for this one

Alabama-Mississippi: Monday team reports (Rivals)

quote:

Auburn fans got good news on Monday when versatile athlete C.J. Avery revealed that his decision is down to the Tigers and Louisville. With a decision expected to come on Dec. 14, Avery said he will spend the next week or so breaking down the final details with his family before making a final decision … North Carolina commit Brian Anderson is planning to visit Auburn on Jan. 13. Anderson will also take trips to Florida and Ole Miss. He says Auburn is currently No. 2 in his pecking order behind the Tar Heels … Four-star defensive end Ryan Johnson is one of Auburn’s top remaining targets in the class and said he will officially visit the Tigers on Jan. 20.

First time I have heard of Brian Anderson. Here's his 247 profile

Auburn working its way up Jackson's list (Rivals)
quote:

“Auburn has started picking it up with me,” Jackson said. “They have a great defense, and also the best defensive line and best d-line coach in the country. To know that (Rodney Garner) wants me, it feels great.”

Garner and Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele both made an in-home visit with Jackson and Jackson’s mother, Teresa Lee, on Sunday.

“They explained to my mom how everything works,” Jackson said. “They told her all about financial aid and all that comes with the scholarship. She really liked them because she’s an Auburn fan.”

So is Jackson. His and his mother’s lifelong allegiance, however, won’t factor too much into his college choice.

Avery eyeing 2 as decision nears (Rivals)
quote:

Avery’s relationship with Auburn defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff is an asset for the Tigers. There is history between the two as McGriff coached Avery’s father at Kentucky State.

“Me and Coach McGriff have a great relationship,” Avery said. “With him having coached my dad, that’s big for me.”

McGriff isn’t the only reason for Avery’s high interest in Auburn.

“There are some great people at Auburn,” Avery said. “It’s a great fan base. They have some of the best fans in the country. They treated me well on my official visit. The program is nice. Coach (Gus) Malzahn is doing a great job over there. It’s just a good place to be.”

Avery also sees Auburn’s defense as a good fit.

“I think I fit well in the Auburn defense,” Avery said. “I watched (safety) Tray Matthews a lot and the way he plays the game; that’s the way I see myself playing in their defense.”

In Plains Sight: Major Auburn TE target emerges (SECCountry)

quote:

Even without playing time, college coaches took notice of Cannella’s hybrid TE skill set. He picked up 10 offers without even taking the field. Once he finally started playing, the offers from the other top programs began to file in.

It’s that waiting game, however, that will dictate Cannella’s pending college choice.

“Where can I fit the best that I can make an immediate impact? I’m coming from a junior college. I want to come in and play right away,” Cannella said. “Of course, that comes with earning your spot. At the same time, I’m not trying to come in anywhere and redshirt.”

In terms of roster opportunity, Auburn presents a great option. It’ll all come down to the Tigers landing that official visit this weekend, which likely will be determined after Texas visits Cannella on Tuesday.

Fountain has made it clear how he sees Cannella fitting in, if Auburn were to be the eventual pick.

“Well, he was telling me they want to put some weight on me. I’m not too worried about that. I’ll have all spring to do that,” Cannella said. “He loves my receiving skills and whatnot. He thinks I can be a threat in the passing game. Blocking isn’t a problem at all. I can block. It’s just a matter of learning technique with me.”

Early on he made it clear he wanted to leave the state. It seems he has backtracked some with some interest in Bama but ya I don't think he ever was that interested in AU
