There were plenty of "insiders" pumping AU fans full of sunshine days before about our shots with all those guys.
Maybe but I did not read 1 insider say we even were the lean for any of them. Just that we had made things very tight & were hopeful. As I said the only 1 debateable was Kwon depending on the insider.

Lol. He was talking about DL Jauntavius Johnson. My bad if you already knew that.

Looks like it's time to improve our class by raiding LSU's class. Looks like Les Miles mat resign/get fired which is dumb IMO. The only ways this works to me is if the Eagles tank & Chip is let go there but then it's still a risk of USC getting him. The other ways would be going all in for Briles or Patterson to try to get 1 of them.

I would still be shocked if Pruitt stays with Georgia. There was too much smoke not to be some fire there. We have better shot getting GA guys than LSU guys, imho, but I think any coaching changes could benefit us, especially on the defensive side.

LSU should be one of the most coveted HC spots. They are the only instate program in a recruiting hotbed, they have access to Texas & Florida, they have great facilities and atmosphere + money. I don't know how Les Miles didn't win 12+ a year

ETA**: Every other major program has weird additional requirements. USC you need that LA/SoCal fit, Texas you need to jive with the boosters, Notre Dame you need to have smart recruits, Micghian/Ohio State look for "their guys"

LSU has the foundation all other big schools have and not nearly as much baggage. Plus they put up with 8 win Les Miles for like 6 years

I'm sure we would. They have the best class in the country.

We should hire Coach O and pull in their DL class

ETA**: Issue with going after LSU's class is that their class is filled with LA kids. If they hire someone even remotely competent they all flip right back to LSU

LSU isn't firing miles.,. at least not right now.

And if they do, whoever they hire will save their class... the state of LA is locked down... would take s ton of losing to shake that.

Alabama, with a former LSU HC who has won 4 NCs still loses a ton of battles to LSU with LA kids.

We would struggle to pry away people from LSU's class even if they hired a coach after NSD

I don't understand this perception at all. He's the winningest coach in LSU history % wise. In the time frame you mentioned he only had 2 8-win season. Save for a 9 win season the rest were 13-1, 12-2, 11-2, 10-3, & 10-3. His average season in that span is 10.13-3.33. His overall average is 10.3-2.9. Unless LSU gets 1 of the guys I mentioned they could be a lot worse off. Firing him would be a very risky move.

Yeah but Nick has won his fair share of battles too. See Lacey, Collins, & Cam Robinson.

In all seriousness though if Les did leave it would help us with 1 of our top OT targets, 5* Willie Allen.

Did you really just call him 8 win Les Miles?

You can't be serious. Getting rid of Les Miles would be one of the stupidest decisions

Don't want to derail the thread but how is that at all against what I was talking about? I didn't say we lead for them only that we missed on them. Which we did... And that some fans were hopeful we would get them but when we missed on all of them we melted. Looking back on it was a very entertaining day on the message boards

As for LSU recruits not sure losing Les will make much of a difference in our class considering not many on that list looked at us before. It's kinda weird but we don't seem to be any that many battles with them this year. It seems like usually we fight them for 3-5 guys a season but John Broussard & Willie Allen are the only 2 guys I can think of this season that are/were battles between us. Shavar Manuel maybe? But I think he has written us pretty much off. The majority of our battles this year are with UF or UGA

We don't recruit LA all that much. All our LSu battles are with TX or FL kids. They have very few FL kids they are after this year since LA is so stocked with talent right now

I agree with it being a coveted position but the 12+ win is a little ridiculous standard

The SEC West is loaded, I don't care how great a hotbed or facilities you have if you are battling teams that have similar facilities & can land similar recruits it's tough. They should definitely be a top 3 team in the West each season which they have been for the most part. I think this move is more out of wanting something new than anything else. They have hit a rough patch back to back seasons now & coming from being the #2 team in the nation just 3 weeks ago, there's a lot of melting going on. Will be interesting to see who they get as replacement though. I just don't see Jimbo leaving the comfy confines of the ACC where Clemson is his only challenger for the SEC West.

It's completely not likely but there is the chance that the 3 coaches who have had most success against Auburn in recent years could all be gone by season end. Les Miles, Mark Richt & Nick Saban. I doubt it happens but that would be nice for Auburn football if it did

It was extreme to call him 8 win Les Miles. You're absolutely right on that.

Les Miles though is essentially the exact same as Mark Richt. Miles has more NFL players than any coach since he started at LSU and his only championship was a 2loss team that got lucky to make the game.

I like Les Miles, I think he is a good coach but sometimes you need new blood a la Richt/Tuberville/Fulmer etc

Since the NC season at LSU, LSU has finished with less than 10 wins four times. Compare that to only two seasons with 11+ wins

In 2013, LSU went 10-3 despite having 15 current NFL players and 2 projected NFL draft picks.

QB- Zach Mettenberger (NFL starts)
RB- Jeremy Hill (NFL Starter)
RB- Alfred Blue (NFL starts)
WR- ODBjr (NFL ROY)
WR- J Landry (NFL Starter )
OT- La'el Collins (NFL Roster)
OG- Trai Turner (NFL Starter)
OG- Vadal Alexander (Projected #2 OG NFL)

Defense

DE- Danielle Hunter (NFL 3rd RD)
DT - Anthony Johnson (NFL Roster)
DT - Ego Ferguson (NFL 2nd RD)
LB - Lamin Barrow (NFL 5th RD)
LB - Kwon Alexander (NFL 4th RD)
DB- Ronald Martin (NFL Roster)
DB- Craig Loston (NFL Roster)
DB- Jalen Collins (2nd RD)
DB- Jalen Mills (projected #2 S)
