We also lost Marcus Roberson

We dropped him at least a week before NSD due to an incident on his UF visit.

Good thing we got Whitehead instead.

Moved Paul James to the commit post. LINK

Removed Juco OT Demetri Moore from the target post, not a take right now. Also per JLee we may not keep DE Newkirk due to grade issues.

Neither guy set the world on fire Roberson was solid but was a late round draft pick as an early entry... not a huge difference between the two

Roberson was very good at UF but had some issues. That caused his late RD pick

When you look at the overall production in college, whitehead and Roberson aren't that much different... and to be honest, had we signed Roberson I don't think he would've been as productive here as JW. Granted, they played different positions so it's not surprising JW has more stats (would MR have played safety here?... and if so, would he have been any good at it)

Roberson was the better college player... but outside of his sophomore season, he really didn't do anything.

you are not factoring the busted coverage aspect of the comparison.

The only 1s we ever led with was LW & JM. Kwon is debatable on if we ever led depending on which insider at the time is right about what happened then. Moore was the Monday before. It was on Fox SportSouth after a Hawks game.

There were plenty of "insiders" pumping AU fans full of sunshine days before about our shots with all those guys. Even BM was giving us decent shots at Darby & Goldman which was part of the reason for the melt.

If you look back though that was a very solid class we pulled in. Guys that are starting now or have started from that class

Jovon Robinson (even though he came in last year's class)
Ricardo Louis
Avery Young
Alex Kozan
Patrick Miller (NFL)
Robert Leff (6th OL)
Cassanova McKinzy
Gimel President
Javiere Mitchell
Josh Holsey
Jonathan Jones

No big time super stars but lots of solid football players. It's crazy though how the 2 guys I was most excited about: Jaquay Williams & Jordan Diamond are either not here or have done nothing at Auburn & Robert Leff has turned into an very solid player

No problem with getting a few top rated JUCO guys.

Especially when it addresses a major need such as pass rush. Let's just say for a moment Marlon Davidson stays committed & Adams/Lawson both return. So basically full posibarner mode. Next year's DL could be

Buck - Lawson | James
DT - Adams | Lawrence
DT - Russell | Swain
DE - Cowart | Davidson

That's a pretty solid 2 deep & then you still have guys like Kennion, Williams, President (eh not so much) & hopefully either or even super posi both of Derrick Brown & Antwuan Jackson.

I actually think our secondary & DL should be very solid next season. LBs will be interesting as really only Tre Williams returns as a big time contributor. My super early guess would be Darrell Williams at WLB & Jeff Holland at SAM but we will see

Iv think Johnson will be ahead of Swain next year. Not that Johnson will be special, Swain just sucks

I know this is tRant, but it bugs me when we say a particular player sucks. I don't have an issue calling out a coach, because $.

Sorry, but I had to say that.

Now, I believe Johnson will be solid, but Swain has another year. He has made plays here, and there.

Saying Jeremy Johnson sucks is putting it nicely though.

Must have missed Maurice Swain being a walkon

He plays football on shcolarship at a P5 bowl eligible team. Swain is one of the best athletes in the country. So when I say he "sucks" it is relative to other players in that elite category.

For example, Ted Ginn sucks at catching a football/WR and is crippling the Carolina Cam Newtons. He still would be light years ahead of Auburn's WRs so he "sucks" by NFL standards

Five-star LB @bendavis_1 will take an unofficial visit to #Auburn this weekend instead of an official. He will take his official in January.
