Is it how he interacted with our staff considering he is a Bama fan, or is it that he straight up is a risk for anyone?

I have no clue. We have taken kids with off field issues before. Jeff Holland caused a major ruckus with whatever he did at the Rivals 5* event last year and we took him.

FWIW BMatt took off the off field part of the WarRoom article. Apparently he thought it was in bad taste as well in retrospect.

We're no longer recruiting him because we have no chance. The "off-field concerns" is just bullshite to try and rationalize. Are Wilson's off-field issues really worse than Tray "Counterfeit Check Fraud" Matthews? Or Nick "Steal From Teammates" Marshall?

They're only "technically" off the field issues. They're more of a mentality issue than anything. Tray Matthews and Nick Marshall bust their asses on the field and in practice. Sounds like Mack Wilson feels like he's already made it and that "da strugle ova wit" already. THAT seems to be Muschamp's rub with him. Nothing at all like he's a bad kid socially or in trouble with the law.

Muschamp simply has a preference for the gym rat/film rat types that live and breathe football. Guys like Hargreaves, Matt Elam, Dante Fowler, etc. Lots of his defensive guys at UF had off field issues or attitude issues, but they LOVED football and busted their tails every day.

Other notable nuggets in the War Room yesterday

-4 targets are mentioned as top LB targets for 3 LB spots in the class; Tre Lamar, Elysee Ebem-Bosse, Daniel Bituli, & Devin Bush
-Bituli is likely a UT lean
-Some feel Bush is a forgone conclusion to FSU because his dad went there (others report Michigan actually leads)
-Expect David Marshall back in the class. He will not be back in til he is 100% though. (It may not be til NSD though per an interview he did with AUC)
-There is a window for Quinnen to come back but it may close soon.
-he has not maintained a close relationship with the staff
-Still team to beat for Davidson & Antwuan
-UGA has ramped things up on Holyfield & has made it a race
-Some sources think EH is leaning UGA
-If we miss Holyfield the staff seems ok only taking Malik as the only RB in this class but will continue to recruit others
-2017 RB class appears to be much deeper & better
-AU easily in top 2 or 3 with juco OT target Garret Bolles along with Ole Miss & Zona St
-Mixed signals on Nate Craig
-FSU insiders are convinced Nate will eventually commit to them
-A source close to Nate though feels AU & tOSU are actually the teams to beat
-Either way AU should be in the race til the end
-Tega is expected to join AU for the second Summer term
-AU has cleared him but still waiting for the NCAA clearing house
-No NCAA snag is expected
-TJ Davis is recovering fast from surgery & is walking on campus already without a brace
-Johnathan Jones is walking normally as well & is expected to be ready for the season.

so glad we're not gonna reach for a 2nd RB this year. The 2017 class looks much better. '16 is the worst RB class I can remember recently.

There are some positions where I don't mind taking project/reach players such as OL/DL but with how stacked we are at RB and the success of RB underclassmen, I have no problem not taking 2 in a class

Ya this stuff pisses me off. Why is it so hard to just admit we are gonna miss on a guy? It's ok if BM just wrote "Lyndell Wilson appears to be a hard lean for Bama so AU staff is moving on to guys they think they have better shot at." Instead of this off the field BS. We don't have to make excuses for every kid that doesn't sign with us. It is just so petty...

I'm in the same boat. And I don't want to direct this toward Ellitor because he's providing information, not creating it. And I think we are all very appreciative of that. But these sort of things are why I stopped following recruiting as closely as I once did. After a while, most of the information I was receiving was gossip about personal lives, alleged financial transactions, attitude issues, etc. It's a new trend that was going to develop as soon as recruiting blew up the way it has. It was a natural next step for recruiting sites to capitalize on.

Ultimately, in my opinion, it is exploitation of young athletes in a way that has nothing to do with their on-field performance. That's my main issue with it.

Oh definitely this! Really appreciate all the hard work E does to bring this stuff over. Definitely not a shot at him more just frustration with our writers.

This is an example of why I cancelled all my subscriptions to recruiting sites because of the stories & BS they try to feed all those readers who MUST have a deep dark reason as to why a kid would refuse to come to AU. I would pay a due in a hearbeat if ever found a guy I felt like was honestly relaying info but I don't see how a person like that can exist in today's market which is just sad...

With all of that said not worried about recruiting. Gus has proved to be an outstanding closer & hell I didn't even know who Braden Smith was at this point 2 seasons ago. At end of day more worried about development of guys once they get on campus. If we are doing that right we will always be a top 15-20 recruiting team so we will always be competitive if we are developing talent

I imagine the real story goes more like, "This kid is clearly going to Bama then on top of that his work ethic/attitude isn't a perfect fit. If it was just 'one' we can work thorugh but isn't worth the time for both."

If Mack Wilson was really an AU lean and wanted to commit, I refuse to believe we would turn him down. So BMatt is full of s***

FWIW JGT clarified BMs original War Room post. He said off field issue was poor wording. JGT said the issue was that Lyndell has a cavalier attitude in thinking he has already arrived as a ball player & did not have to work to get better, If that is true then Mack would definitely not be a fit for Boom. Boom does not put up with anyone not prepared to do work or give max effort, especially at the position he coaches.

That was never put in anything public to generate more clicks. The only mention was in the first edition of the War Room which is members only. It was not put in a tweet or anything.
