Unless T-Rob doesn't want him but I can't see us turning down a local kid rated in the top 5 at his position at a position of major need.

I mean I know what you're saying but now that I think about it, where does this great rep even come from? He's had talented QBs and none of them have gone on to do anything at all.

Louisville signed Kane(ain) Pass as well, so we will have that to overcome.

I have wondered if Kenneth Carter's lack of development at AU doesn't affect the recruitment of Davidson. Hiring Muschamp should nullify that aspect his decision, but it will be used against us.

Ken was a high 3*, low 4* player. Very slow. He wasn't going to play on the NFL. But I see your point.

Helped
Chris Redman
Stefan Lefors
Brian Brohm
Ryan Mallett
Tyler Wilson

I doubt we are turning him down if he wants to come. As I pointed out though, his rating is a little inflated.
Even at one of the camps where he won best DB award, someone who was there said there were a couple kids who outperformed but didn't have his notoriety so the judges didn't even pay attention.
FWIW, the guy who told me that is a Broussard supporter/Phenix City connection.

I would say that the comments seemed to be in line with what E said though. Broussard got beat on 1on1s from what the guy said. Wouldn't be shocked if he was a great zone CB

So, anyone know how our chances are with Holyfield? Gotta think they're pretty good if we want him, right?

Hard to develop a player who was off his feet 70% of the time.

Carter should've redshirted and moved to OL. his body type and limited athleticism would've been a better fit for offensive tackle IMO.

These two guys were top 5 QBs coming out of high school.

If we are only taking 1 I hope it's someone higher ranked.

I think we take 2. I think we'll always look to take 2 RBs. Depth is essential and it's easy to move those guys to other positions because of their athleticism.

He would have been a small OT. You mean OG?

quote:and they were very good college passers. Mallett did not get a chance at the pro level for a while because he was behind Brady. Regardless Petrino gave Mallett and Brohm a very solid foundation. What they did in the NFL is on them and their pro coaches for the most part.

Think about how ridiculous it is to gauge things by how well someone's players do in the NFL, especially at a position like QB.
There are only 32 teams and a good number of them have firmly entrenched starters. Heck just being a backup, considering a number of teams only carry 2 QBs, is a huge deal.
When you look at Petrino, and that nearly every QB he has ever coached at a major college/university has been drafted and often a high draft pick, you start to realize he develops QBs
