He's staying as a TE coach so he can recruit.

Yeah our pass rush was top notch. Oh wait, one player was hurt... then lets remember the Rhino package, put our best dts at de for no reason.

Wouldn't mind if he stayed at DL. Took Dee Ford and made him a 1st RD pick, Carl Lawson a FR AA, made Angelo Blackson not completely irrelevant, recruited every one of the other meaningful contributors (Gabe Wright didn't contribute)

He was given a completely bare cupboard at DE and DT and somehow got decent production.

Are you hearing if there is legs to Rocker or Lawing coming in as DL coach if we get Boom?

I'd prefer Lawing and be okay with Rocker

I think that was Johnson's brain child FWIW.

So you are blaming him that in "Year 3" he won't have a single SR on the roster? Or that for the JR class we otherwise would have had 0 if he didn't pull in Monty Adams in 1 month of recruiting?

He should have gotten another DT last year but was bare pickings considering how terrible our DL play has been since Fairley.

We had 2 injuries at pass rush DE with Lawson and Kennion. Who else did you want to play there? Sure the Chizik era Gimel President or Ladarious Owens were stunted by Garner's coaching despite being lost for years.

Ya beacuse the DL coach makes those types of decisions not the DC

I've heard that Fountain is done, players don't care for him and he isn't the best teacher. Garner will move to TE if Lawing comes otherwise stays put. Horton will take over ST.

EDIT: name change.

Your thing is to complain about our recruiting, especially during Chiz years, and how we mismanaged our roster. Don't complain when Garner shows up and has a bare cupboard and doesn't put out a ton of production. Watch our pass rush be great next year and it is all going to be attributed to Lawing or Rocker

I know

It's like, "Oh hey I know you have a roster full of kids no one else recruited but I expect All SEC performers across the line. Also, we judge you for bringing in JUCO players because you couldn't even make a 1deep based on what was given to you"

Horton has coached ST before. As far as I can tell, Garner has zero ST coaching experience. Ergo it would make more sense that Horton takes over that role.

So he had a 1st round pick at De, but the cupboard was bare. Yeah that makes sense.

Bruh there were a number of ways you could have soundly contested that argument.

But that might have been the dumbest retort given the circumstances that I could possibly think of.

Dee was a 3rd round projection at best when CRG got here. Like it or not Garner coached him up. Also the 2012 DL was a complete custer**** Garner did a hell of a job turning them around and making them respectable in 2013. Also players like Blackson, Lambert, and President did improve as DLs in 2014 even though we could not find a pass rush on the DL. FWIW I think there are aspects about pass rushing that can't be coached. You either got it or you don't like speed of the edge. I think the mistake was not recruiting more pass rushers besides just Carl. The other couple we signed were underweight and needed a year of S&C first.
