Purifoy is expected to graduate from Hargrave May 16 and enroll at Auburn shortly thereafter.

Tyler Harris is more of a 3 or 4 I would love to have him but it wouldn't really address our need for a PF

He wouldn't play it in the NBA but he is the prototypical college stretch 4. He is longer, stronger and more skilled than anybody we have at that position.

Just as we know from football recruiting size alone does not catagorize a player to a type or position. Harris is very talented but I just watched his 2013-2014 highlights & I did not see a 4 in his game. From the highlights he's a 3 all the way. Hell his game is a college clone to Tayshaun Prince right down to both being lefty shooters. Prince was not a 4 by anyone's definition. Harris may be able to bang but I did not see it in his highlights. The priority is on a banger & that's what we need most. Now is Harris an upgrade to Purchase & and Granger & Thompson, guys of similar height & weight? Hell yes. He's a better shooter than Jack & Thompson plus more athletic, better on D, & more basketball savy than Granger. I would take a quality banger & Harris all day long over 2 of the 3 AU players mentioned above. Harris specifically could come in when Danjel needs rest & we would not miss a beat. Hell, W/ Danjel's much improved shooting skills Having a guard & wing line of Canty, Danjel, & Harris may even be best for AU if we get him. Here are Harris' 2013-2014 highlights. LINK

We saw the same thing. He is a 3 with length. He isn't going to be matching up with bangers very often. Look around the conference and see how many teams have a 4 he couldn't match up with. You'll see the same thing in all conferences. UK is the exception. Most teams play guys just like him at the 4.

Like MCT said, there are few teams in CBB let alone SEC that have lineups that would force you to play two bangers.


The guy who has a similar (but better) game in that role is Rondae Hollis Jefferson for Arizona. He will play stretch 4 in small lineups and absolutely excels as a matchup nightmare and holds his own defensively.


I would think defensively, the key would be to have a large lineup anytime we would have Harris at 4. It would be easy/realistic to have every guy on our team be 6'5+ minus Canty. Solid help defense and doubling the post would make that a dangerous defensive unit

Me and E have agreed on 2 things now in the last week

I meant in the half court we would substitute bangers for length at the other positions to help with doubling the post and rebounding with stretch 4

I don't see Harris in at 4 with a three guard line up or Canty + TSD.

If Bruce is in heavy press mode & the opponent has a 4 that is not big or athletic then you damn sure could see it. Assuming you were counting Danjel as a guard in your post.

TSD has been moved to point. I don't see him & Canty on the court at the same time.
