I could see Thompson going long before Reed. Your obsession with him is humorous.

Dude just stop. As some of us has pointed out the sheer stupidity of the opinion you have on this subject, (not calling you stupid FTR) given we have very little overall inside Coach Pearl will not give up on a kid who has a lot of potential who has only been here 1 semester. Yes Reed's development down the stretch was very disappointing but I don't see him leaving. Give the kid a chance for crying out loud.

Thompson can contribute now. He proved that in the SEC tourny.

You need to realize that if we have someone who can coach a "big," Reed is likely the only guy on the roster who gets drafted. You don't process our highest potential player

We have no guy who fits his role that can "help now." He literally is our best option and it isn't even close. There are next to 0 players that have his height and athleticism and the potential alone is worth taking a gamble on his scholarship spot.

By next year, Reed will have gained enough weight and had instruction on defense to be a solid rotational big guy for us (since we have no one else). By his junior year, we hopefully will have reworked his shot and implemented a few offensive moves. By his senior year, we hopefully will have put in a few pick and roll plays and get him posting up with more weight.

Unless you think Jordan Granger, Bowers at 6'6, Spencer at 6'8, Alex Thompson at 6'7 can play post defense against teams like Kentucky who have 5+ guys that ar elike 6'10 we don't process him.

Not like Atewe as much better than where Reed is at so can't count on him either. Especially with his injury issues

How long? If we're going to win and oversign we have cut projects and take who can help us now.

He has the potential to be a dominant big. Unless you are a blue blood like the UK or Duke of college basketball you aren't going to get college ready bigs out of high school.

Basketball is all about who can help now not who can help in 3 years. As long as Pearl is our coach we're going to continue to get better and in turn get better recruits. Reed needs to be replaced with someone that can help now and I think Pearl will do that.

Idiocy.

Below are the 14 Scholarship players projected for next year. We only need to cut 1 right now + for whichever kids we may add

I bolded the 3 players that will be upgraded by recruiting class which means we have 2 open spots

SR - Granger
SO - Purchase
SO - Thompson
SR - Bowers
JR - Canty
JR(RS So?) - Atewe
SO - Lang
JR - TSD
SO - Reed

Brown
Williams
JR -Dunans
Purifoy
Spencer

Roster Attrition due to eligibility at end of season

2015-16 - Bowers, Granger
2016-17 - Canty, TSD, Atewe, Dunans,

Process candidates
Alex Thompson (walkon scholly), Jack Purchase

With this natural attrition over the next two years plus obvious process candidates, we will have 8 scholarships over the next two cycles. 2016 was supposed to be small class (3 or less). With that in mind, 2017 would have to be 6+ to even need to process someone that isn't obvious

24 acts as if we have a number crunch. We have 7scholarships opening up over the next two years. We would need to grandslam it in recruiting to fill up those spots with elite talent to fill them.

If we land Austin Wiley in the 2017 I think we could be tough as hell inside and have one of the best front lines in the nation in the 2017-2018 season. Reed will be a Senior & Wiley an elite freshman.

A fact some college basketball fans don't understand or like the case we have here, even try to understand it.

Don't forget Horace Spencer. We could field a pretty dominant frontcourt with a lineup of Reed, Wiley and Spencer

Yep. We could have the potential to at least rebound like this year's UK team.

Pearl was just on WJOX and said we could see as many as 7 new faces next year. I was halfway paying attention so I don't know if he was including Canty in that group.

If you include Canty, that means we only sign 1 more player than expected. I would think we process either Purchase or revoke Thompson's scholarship in that situation.

ETA: That isn't super surprising considering the repors that Pearl has looked to add 1-2 people in this class. I imagine it is just 1 more

Canty is already on scholly. After Spencer signs we have to drop 1. If we bring in another we have to drop 2.
