Bowers 3-6 from ft line
Spencer 1-5

At 44 without my glasses I can shoot better than this and I don't practice every day. Whoever taught these 2 in rec and middle school needs their arse kicked.

It's amazing the number of guys in the league and college that suck at free throws. Seems automatic for guys like us but then again we aren't 6'9 when hands the size of oven mitts

We're also looking at a small sample size during game conditions. It's easy to say you can walk out there and make 4 out of 6 as you are. It's another to be running up and down the court for 20 minutes and then do it.

That said, FT shooting is certainly disappointing.

We were playing like a d3 team and we looked really sloppy. Bowers could be all SEC type numbers if he could learn to shoot or make a layup.

Harris looked really impressive. He plays the game like guys at better schools. He made some athletic moves too.

There is probably nothing more frustrating than losing a game by two or three after shooting around 50 percent from the FT line.

In Bruce's post game conference, he spoke some what confidently about Purifoy's situation...kind of like it could be any day.

He said Taj's shoulder injury is different than the dislocations that occurred last season, and Dr. Andrews is looking at it today during the game.

I expect Bryce to be back for our next exhibition game. I think holding him out was more precautionary than anything.

As has been stated by MCT, TJ should be back for UAB. He actually sprained his MCL late last week so he's already been resting it for a week.

The lineup is limited now, but we could have 3 of the 4 back by the start of the season.

Why do we always have h highlights from under the Hoop? Athletics parts for all these random fricking people yet can't hand someone a camera at a half court angle?

I wonder the same thing. It's such a bad angle to really be able to tell what's happening. I wish they'd show highlights from the traditional elevated sideline camera angle.

So seems like Ado from Tennessee is high on AU? 6'10 200lbs so probably a project at C unless he gets that Will Grier protein powder

MCT, what are your thoughts on Anfernee McKelmore/Heron and Harper? Early impact, what roles and ceiling

3rdLawson, we also would appreciate your cultured opinion

Heron will play early. Reminds me a lot of Levi Randolph. I don't see him starting his 1st year but he has all the tools. Harper will be behind Canty and hopefully a healthy Tahj so he probably won't get many minutes. He needs to get stronger but he can play at this level even at his height. Mclemore is raw and needs some work but he is a high level athlete with long arms. Probably more of a defensive guy early.

Hasn't really been talked about but Granger has moved from the 4 to a 3 small forward / wing. Pearl likes his ability to defend out there and it gives us a bigger passer out there to get the ball inside to Harris and Bowers. Granger can also shoot from the perimeter. He's working on his handle and getting to the rim out there.

Canty
Dunans
Granger
Harris
Bowers

Is an awesome lineup for defending / rebounding and full court pressing

Watching the highlights and looking at the lineups, it's amazing to me how diifferent this team is to last year

So many new and seemingly talented guys out there

Offensively he has always played the role of a traditional 3 and matched up with the other teams 4 defensively. I try not to get to caught up in labeling them by a number. Last year we basically played a 1, two 2's, a 3 and a 4 then matched up the best we could defensively. I could be wrong but I think his move was more of a necessity due to injuries and when we get healthy he goes back to the role he played last year. I just don't see him having the foot speed to defend on the perimeter effectively.
