Dang I wanted him to go to UCLA if he isn't coming to AU. Hopefully it doesn't matter and he picks us.

Free article on Jordan Prestwood

Highlights: He wants a) early playing time at OT (obviously bad for AU), b) to be close to home (Tampa, Fl), and c) to compete for a national title.
Reading between the lines from an article on 247 his top 3 are FSU, AU, and SCar with Ole Miss and Oklahoma in there as well.

Quotes from the Evans article. LINK
quote:

It feels like that 2010 season. People are not so unsure about wins, they are expecting to win," Evans told AuburnSports.com. "It's a big difference, super gap between the whole situation from last year. I could tell last year when I visited to hang out, I could tell by the players' attitudes, it was like a plague. Guys were doing their own thing.

The fact that adding on to it, they started to lose games and people started to talk negatively, it stressed everyone out and made the environment bad. Now, it's so much different. Everyone's happy, everyone seems like they are bought in, the players, and they are living in the moment. Going over there, I can't explain it, the feeling is different, real different. The whole town is believing.

At the beginning, when Coach Malzahn was hired, I was skeptical, but it grew on me," said Evans. "I knew he could do it, but I wanted to see it. I know Malzahn is a mastermind and he could do what he's doing now, but I was skeptical about it. But I've bought in -- they've been on a winning streak and they are growing on me.

The way Malzahn has turned around the season, it's definitely making me look at Auburn really, really hard right now. Early this season, I put emphasis on them having success. They are giving me a lot of reasons to commit to them. They are showing me good things," said Evans.

I didn't know it would happen this quick, they're almost in the top ten. That's crazy. It's still bugging me out that they're doing it this year, I was thinking maybe next year, they're doing it now. Right now, I think the players are buying in.

The four teams in my top, all of them are having good seasons. Nobody is doing terrible, that makes things harder," said Evans." I think any of my schools are bad, it's just about what school fits me the best. I feel like I can easily be successful at all of them. That's the only thing that's tough. I'll make the best decision for me.

I think Evans is about as important for us this year as Tre Williams simply because our lack of true SEC talent at LB.

Evans could be a beast at Star, or perhaps even at Will.

With his coverage skills and tackling ability he is tailor made for the Star which is the most important position on our D because it's asked to do everything.

Well, at least we know why Evans was giving us a bit of the cold shoulder during late summer/early fall.

I still don't think he comes to Auburn. I think he's just a HS kid that wants to leave town and go away for college, which is very normal. The fact that we sucked last year is just his excuse since he has to live in Auburn. I hope I'm wrong, but I won't believe he's coming to Auburn until he signs and enrolls.

We got "stars" running out our arse right now. We need some real LB's to go along with Williams. I know we only play two true LB's, but we still need more (and yes, I know about Deshaun).

Anyway, I think Evans should play WLB, if his size is correct. He has the frame for it.

Stars out the azz?... we have Therezie and Garrett who will be seniors next year, along with King who'll also be a senior.

RT's backup right now is Mackenro Alexander... we're gonna need a dynamic athlete for the Star for 2015 and beyond. I'm not knocking MA... I think he can be a very good player in this defense, but he's not on the same planet from an athleticism standpoint as Evans.

Evans has the size to stop the run and the athleticism to cover... from a skillset standpoint, he's what you're looking for... it's probably the most critical position in this defense, and we'd be foolish to let him go somewhere else.

We have:
Kris Frost
Cassanova McKinzy
Justin Garrett
Anthony Swain
Cam Toney
Javy Mitchell
Tre Williams
Deshaun Davis

That's 4 deep at each position. That's plenty of depth. Unless there's a stud out there interested in us, why would we need more?

As for Star we have Therezie and Mackenro and that's pretty much it.

Frost and Cass are the only proven LB's.IMO

Garrett is at star.

Javy- Not SEC level.

Toney-Who knows what he will be or not be.

And I never said we needed more than what it looks like the staff is taking (3). I want the three to be true LB's and not at the star spot.

star has less depth than LB, especially when you look beyond 2014. We're not passing on Evans to sign another LB... that would be stupid. RE could grow into an LB, or become a freak star.

personally, I'd like to sign three LBs and Evans in this class, but that's probably not gonna happen (unless a highly recruited LB drops in our lap last minute).

Swain has looked pretty good. And I'm pretty sure Garrett moved to LB after Therezie took over. But you can also say Therezie is the only proven Star. We have plenty of LBs right now. We need a Star player more which I think Evans will fill that need.

Stars can come from smaller LB's or the safety spot like King. I just think it's easy to roll someone into the star spot from different places. True inside LB's are a different story. IMO

My main point is that I would want Evans to play WLB. He is listed at about 6'3" 220, so I think he has the frame. Also, we have others coming in like Moncrief who has the size to play star.

I'd rather not have to shift safeties over to Star right now. We're super thin back there.

are we even sure we want a big body playing star? Moncrief would be a monster for that position as well as Evans, but I dunno with all these HUNH teams we face maybe a guy like Therezie is the best fit

what do I know though, the coaches get paid for this

As long as it doesn't affect his speed/agility, I don't see why the size of the Star would matter.

If he has the speed and can cover like RE yes you want the bigger for run support and playing team like Bama, UGA, LSU, and Arky. The star essentially becomes an OLB for those situations and games.

That's what I was thinking

the hybrid LB/S is all about having a guy who's physical enough to stop the run and athletic enough in coverage... that way your defense isn't mixing and matching personnel based on the offense's substitions.

If Evans is as good in coverage as some have suggested, he fits the star position perfectly.
