AUC Recruiting Notes:

*Staff still feels good about Davonte Lambert. Sources indicate the staff believes this may be a AU/UF battle rather than assumed UF/UT battle.

*All is quiet on the Casher front. The staff is giving him some time to sort things out, but still feel they have a good shot. If things start to look like a lost cause they will drop it and go after Andrew Marshall. AU definitely wants Casher.

*One more DT is wanted by the staff. They feel good about Elisha Shaw. Shaw had AU in fourth behind Bama, UGA and Ole Miss. Bama may have others ahead of Shaw, Ole Miss has made a big mvoe and UGA seems to be the favorite. If things don't work out with Lambert or Shaw the staff feels good about JUCO talent that is yet to be evaluated.

*Cory Thomas rec'd a written offer on Thursday, which according to him was a surprise. As of now Miss State is in the drivers seat with him.

*With the two receivers who are committed the staff is very happy. No pressure to add a third. The staff is looking but won't press for any others since most feel Jason Smith will end up at WR even though he was promised a shot at QB.

*AU done at RB.

* It is wait and see at TE. Tigers are high on LSU commit Jacory Washington and he would be an automatic take. Outside of that it is wait and see.

*Staff wants to add one more CB. John Bonney, Tony Brown and Nick Watkins are top prospects and staff feels they are in it, however the crystal ball has them projected else where. They want one more high school CB in addition to Nick Ruffin.

*Bama commit Stephen Roberts stopped by campus this week after saying it wouldn't make it anywhere. KN will be keeping tabs on him in the coming weeks...

I'm pretty sure I hit all the high points.

Does our chance of signing Roc depend on Fournette?

A couple other interesting notes per AUC
-Shaw was not happy he didn't get more love from the UGA staff at Dawg Night
-John Bonney is the best shot at getting one of those CBs from Texas

Quotes from Roc Per AUC
quote:

I talked to Coach (Bobby) Williams (Bama)and Coach (Burton) Burns right after I committed,” Thomas told Auburn Undercover. “Coach Burns said “Aww you went to the bad guys,” but it was in a joking manner. He said he was proud of me, but that he still plans on coming after me hard. They are not really trying to change my mind right now, but they are happy for me and said they will be there if I need them...Really I have not signed anywhere yet and something could change during this time, so anything could happen,” Thomas said. “I think I will take official visits, but I have not really thought about that yet. I am not 100 percent sure I will even visit anywhere other than Auburn, to be honest. In the end, just being able to take advantage of this God-given talent and go to any college I want to is a complete blessing...I am not really working on anyone right now, but the main people I talk to are Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Ala./Auburn), Shaun Hamilton (Montgomery, Ala./Carver) and Ronnie Clark (Calera, Ala./Calera), but I really do not try to sway them as much as I just give them advice...I think I fit in great at Auburn because they have a great coaching staff, which is what my coaches here at Oxford advised me on,” Thomas said. They said go somewhere where you will be surrounded by good people, and is exactly what they have at Auburn. They run the same spread-style offense that we try to run here and they plan to utilize their backs in both the running and passing game, which plays perfectly to my strengths as a player
Thomas said that after confiding with his family, they agreed with his opinion on Auburn being the best fit and says they fully support his decision.

He should have never given a commitment yet. He is obviously not ready. He will end up at Bama.

He seemed pretty ready to me. He's visited over 10 times probably. He waited this long in order to be sure. It's not even a certainty that Bama will go after him. Some of them think if they miss on Fournette, they may just not take another back. I mean, they got 4 studs last year and have more needs
