quote:That is surely one of the first things the coaching staffs tell the recruits. Just so that they don't get upset when their bad fans start trashing them if they start thinking they are going somewhere else. You can look at the Bama boards and they were doing the same things before this today. Its just no Auburn fan was tweeting it to him to score some points.
Not by anonymous message board posters trashing them, no. People are stupid and they say stupid things, especially when emotional. That shouldn't influence your life choices, one way or another. His family knows this, I'm sure.

I also laugh when posters get mad about the kid not making a decision soon enough for that posters liking and label the kid a "drama queen".
I agree, but last night was drama.

quote:Yeah, but both coaching staffs went along with it. I just hope it doesn't get so bad in a few years that all the top recruits are making the coaches jump through hoops just to show they can. Even get to where they are parading around half the team to pamper each of them.
I agree, but last night was drama.

That all sounds nice, but as you mentioned, people are emotional. It shouldn't effect their decision, if I was a parent that isn't a due hard fan, having a bunch of people trash me and my family would make me take a step back.

I haven't seen anybody change their CB picks though including bama insiders. It's going to be really funny when he signs with AU on Wednesday after all of this insanity

This whole thing is totally ridiculous. Do you really think a kid ignores a school's academics, coaches, chance of starting early, getting to the NFL, teammates, facilities, etc., and instead basis his decision on a few anonymous Internet posters? That is totally preposterous. No one knows who these people are. They could even be Bama fans. No athlete in their right mind would put any stock whatsoever in what a few random Internet posters have to say.
Evans seems to be enjoying the limelight and is getting a kick out of reading about all the panic and speculation. He wants his announcement on ESPN to be a total surprise and right now I'd say he's doing a good job of keeping people guessing.

Here is my take on all of this. I think it is ridiculous for us as fans to expect a recruit and their family to do things the way we would expect it to go, or unravel the way we want it too.
None of us are in their shoes and although things may appear to be what they seem. I have learned a long time ago and reminded very recently that we often make conclusions based on very little information that often end up being inaccurate, and completely false.
Although I agree recruiting can get crazy sometimes and yes some of the recruits love the attention, and love playing the game. I also don't get so connected and bothered too much by it. At the end of the day it is their choice for their life. One recruit will not make or break a team. Hell we just watched an. AU team that many only expected 7-8 wins from go to the NC.
It is just football people and although I love it as much as the next guy, it does not define my life. It is not a factor on whether I am happy or not. This is not exclusive to our own fan base and I think fans in general need to take a step back and leave the kids alone. I also think the kids and their families need to take a step back, and try not to get so caught up in the hoopla of recruiting. However, with all that being said everyone gets to make their own choices on all of this. This is just my opinion on the subject.
