Wallace is going to be our #2. From what I have been hearing he "gets" the offense better than anyone else and he is an absolute workhorse when it comes to effort and work ethic

@ TTs, I got the impression from talking to people that FB in the new offense is considerably tougher to learn than what is expected of backup linebacker.

That said, it makes sense to me with the class we're bringing in that we could move someone now if they thought FB was something Landrum would excel at, not just somewhere to stick him.

@ Gnar, I think he goes without it for the season for obvious reasons, but I think in order for him throw successively in the SEC he would need to go ahead and get surgery.

Not getting "it" + Reuben Foster = find another freakin' position.

Wallace has shown he can run the offense at a successful enough level to get the nod before Clint until Clint's throwing arm because serviceable again. Realistically, though, Clint might not be able to get his arm back without some major surgery.

I thought Dr. Andrews looked at it and said it was structurally okay?

Hmm, interesting...

I can't remember which, but either Justin Hoke or Bryan Matthews pretty much flat out said he just wasn't getting "it" at linebacker. Whatever that means. Sounds like he was there physically, so it must be all mental. And if fullback is harder to learn than back-up linebacker, that's a very interesting move.

This makes sense. Next year, we are potentially looking at Foster, Holland, and McKinzy at middle linebacker. All of which are better than Landrum.

I was talking to a DB on the roster and he mentioned to me several times about the reoccurring soreness in Clint's arm and how they know which passes he can't get over because of it.

So take that for what you will.

@TTs, in all likeliness it's all the reasons combined. I think I read that Landrum even played FB in highschool.

Yeah Landrum was a helluva RB/FB in high school, though it was only 1A

I've heard whispers from guys that if we had an older team or if Wallace just wasn't a freshman that Wallace would start. Wallace right now just isn't big enough and needs to get stronger. Legit twig. Most people just point out that Frazier never has played in this type of offense and it just hasn't clicked for him. That and he isn't very accurate from what I am told.

The more interesting topic though should be our OL. Right now from what I hear Kozan is starting. Westerman is easily the most inconsistent player on the line. He is unbelievably strong and people say that when he wants to he lights everyone up. Key phrase being when he wants to and practice usually isn't that time. Also, he just isn't grasping the blocking schemes. Supposedly Kozan's grasp of blocking is just unreal for a freshman

Kozan
Jeff Grimes said that he had the best film out of any offensive lineman from the 2012 class.

Pretty high praise...

People are impressed with him. The guys I talk to like him and say he just gets the blocking scheme. From what I was told, it is not been nearly as easy for anyone else. Kozan had a former CU Boulder/ NFL Olineman as his position coach in high school which probably helped. Solid background. Heard he could work on his leverage/pad level

Also, when it comes to the offense seems that the QBs are really impressed with Loefler. They think he is the real deal. Also, his offense supposedly is head and shoulders above the 3 and out offense of Malzahn. Hopefully they are right. I was told definitely not undefeated but they will be better than 8-5

FWIW

I have heard that about Kozan as well. I have also heard more than one person tell me the coaches think Greg Robinson will be the best OL in Auburn's history.

Some people need to slow down

But seriously, if all he's gotten is praise, and he goes against Lemonier, Ford, and Egaue every day, he must be pretty damn good

I will say this again, and for the last time: Twitter Cam was a dumbass. Dude could be #2 given Clint's health.

I assume they will probably play Wallace some in mop-up duty this year, and burn his redshirt. Shame but I don't know that they have much option given our depth (FWIW, I think they bungled Kiehl's freshmen year by running him up the middle on wildcat plays - would liked to have seen him RS as well).

I don't know about that, but if he's anything close to McNeill I can fap to that.

Wallace would have passed Zeke anyways IMO. Wallace's dedication and intelligence are drastically better, and those are huge factors in QB play

With all of the positive aspects of Wallace's game, sounds like there will be another intense quarterback battle next season...

That's assuming KF doesn't excel this year. I'm not ready to assume that just yet

Has it been confirmed that Bo Scarborough's mother works in the Alabama Athletic Complex? If so, does anybody know her position, date of hire, etc...

Could go a long way in his decision. We have to catch up to UGA and Alabama if we want a chance.
