B Matt's input:
Definitely helps with M.Adams and Toby Johnson (JUCO DT)
Garner doesn't have much of a relationship with Lawson, Bower, or Liner.
Will help with future recruiting in Georgia including 5 stars Lorenzo Carter and Raekwon McMillan

Take it for what it's worth, but there are rumors Lawson tweeted after the hire "this is the worst thing that could've happened," then shortly after deleted it. He may not have been talking about football, and he may not have even tweeted that. I hope that doesn't mean he is unpleased with the hire.

It is, indeed, true. I saw the tweet myself.

Hopefully he will actually take a wait/see approach and meet with his new positional coach.

Well, it is known that Garner is one heck of a recruiter. Let's hope he can coax Lawson back to AU if he is having any doubts.

By the way, does this even further our chances of getting Foster?

If Garner is their closer like everyone says I got to imagine that he has been a key recruiter of Foster. Can't imagine it would hurt

Man, I hope we are able to hold onto Lawson. I think Bowers and LIner should like this hire. Same for Foster.

Nick Glass 4 star athlete from class of 2014. Supposedly very close with Reuben Foster as well

“He's one of my favorite coaches regardless of schools. I will really think it through though.”

Naim Mustafaa who we were under consideration from and received visits from had this to say about Garner leaving and doesn't seem to excited

When asked how he felt-

"“I will have to sleep on that one.”

Seems pretty athletic

Why wouldn't Lawson like the hire?
I don't know how much it is directly related to Carl's relationship with Garner but he was extremely pissed off that UGA was one of the last schools to offer him.

Man sucks Garner couldn't have come earlier if it meant keeping Jaquay around. For Lawson, Maybe Garner can shift the blame onto Todd Grantham?

Rednilla on AUFamily usually claims to not have sources in his posts said this

quote:

rom a source close to the situation: Carl is currently in re-evaluation mode. His mom asked him if Auburn was still #1, and he said he honestly doesn't know. He absolutely LOVES Auburn for its atmosphere, and that is why he is taking his time making a level headed decision instead of jumping off the wagon. He did, however, feel very strongly about the old staff, so it's going to take some time for him to be able to make that decision. He has been focusing on academics and keeping his grades up (yes, he actually was studying for finals when Malzahn called, and we should not read into his non-acceptance of the call in the least), and will use Christmas break to think things over before making a decision (my source was adamant that he has not made any decision at all as of yet). His parents are not pushing him in any direction except to make the decision he feels will make him happiest.

I don't claim do be an expert in anything, but it seems pretty obvious that Lawson isn't a 3-4 guy.
So, I can see what UGA was thinking.

We could lose Lawson (I think he comes around), but I think the addition of Garner will nail down some loose commits and open the door for guys who were not looking hard at us.

I feel really good about our class going forward.

Has somebody already said that J. Hoke reported Mackensie Alexander was interested in AU after the Charlie Harbison hire? If we could somehow get this guy, I will be doing some of this

He was showing some interest before the season as well, so this isn't some "spur-of-the-moment" kinda deal

If anybody has any time to burn, watch some tape of this guy named Brandon King. Maybe some of the best tape I have ever seen. I got this off ITAT.

LINK
He has offers from Ole Miss and some others, and the guy who made the post on ITAT said he wanted to go to Auburn and hoped they would offer him.

I saw this the other day and his tape is ridiculous. He is just nasty out there. Maybe needs a little tackling fundamental help though

Also his athletics page list him at sub 4.4

Don't worry we can get Jake Holland to fix that for him.

Edit: I found a little clarification on Hooks. Apparently he got a D in the English class. Auburn doesn't accept classes that you get a D in from JUCO kids.
