I'll be traveling from Indy to Atlanta to Birmingham and back this week. I'd be happy to distribute any backpacks needed in that triangle.....just saying.

Personally, I'd like to hear some good recruiting news.

I would think there will be none to be had until mid january to signing day. Hopefully the good news will be a really good defensive staff being assembled over the dead period and they can jump on the recruiting after.

We have such high expectations after the Luper/Trooper recruiting staff it sucks.

Pulling in top 10-15 classes will put us where we need to be if this staff develops them.

USCe defensively has performed well and before Clowney they weren't pulling in 5 stars

I love coaching staff changes and the freak outs that ensue.

From one of the 247 guys:
quote:

Over the weekend Charlie Harbison made his pitch for Auburn to Immokalee (Fla.) four-star cornerback Mackensie Alexander. The two have a strong relationship from Harbison's time at Clemson, a school long at or near the top for Alexander. It seems as if Clemson has come back to the pack a bit for Alexander and his desire to play in the SEC has grown a bit.

Alexander's recruitment has been all over the place and he doesn't give out a ton of information when it comes to recruiting. My best guess for schools in the hunt right now are Auburn, Clemson, Mississippi State with Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida & maybe more within striking distance also. The interest in Auburn appears to more than a passing fancy due to his prior relationship to Harbison.

Also, looks like some of our guys might get bumps according to What We Learned on Rivals regarding the AL-MS Game:
quote:

When asked about his future college position, WR Jason Smith doesn't hesitate to say he will line up under center when he arrives to Auburn. Smith is a very good high school quarterback and new Auburn coach Gus Malzahn will give him a shot to be the next Cam Newton. If it doesn't work out, that's OK because Smith has a chance to be playmaking wideout in the SEC. It's a good problem to have if you are Malzahn and the Auburn coaches. The Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen standout hauled in six receptions for 134 yards on his way to winning MVP honors for team Alabama. He is a smooth, natural route runner with great acceleration and quickness.

The four-star flanker is very good after the catch and possesses sure hands. When Team Alabama needed a big play, it went to Smith and he didn't let them down. The Mississippi defensive backs didn't have an answer for him.
quote:

Although Team Alabama gave up two passing scores, defensive backs Jonathan Cook and Kamryn Melton were excellent in coverage. Melton forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and added an interception to go with four tackles and one for loss. Melton has deceptive speed allowing him to stay in the hip pocket of receivers downfield.

The Auburn recruit didn't hurt this stock. Cook didn't have a monster stat line, but he was superb against the pass. The three-star cornerback recorded an interception in the red zone and returned it 57 yards to set up a field goal for Team Alabama. He broke up a pair of passes and had a tackle for loss. He does a nice job in man-to-man coverage and is rarely out of position. Both players have a chance to push for another star in the next Rivals rankings release.

JHoke just posted an update on him.

Since Arkansas' coaching change he is looking around. Still looking/committed to Arkansas.
He got offered by Arkansas St and he knows Malzahn. Getting to know EJ and Harbison.

We are fighting for an OV on Jan 11th or 18th. Arizona St and Arkansas are trying to get an OV at that time as well.

He doesn't know much about AU but liked watching us/says we got slighted on 04. I assume he knows about Cam too

Maybe these guys, along with Mackensie's brother, Mackenro, and that Burkett kid, are the reasons why Gus, et al., were so easygoing about the recent decommits.

I don't see a problem taking Mackenro if we get Mackensie Alexander.

WHat do people think about him?

Stealing recruits from John L Smith. A new low for AU.

Oh well, at least he is a safety. We recruited like 3 in 4 years under Chizik. So Johnson is at least on the right track.

We already have the lowest amount of commits in the sec. I hope Gus can reel in about 10 more comittments by the end of signing day.

I never really was excited about him. I felt like he is a shittier Brandon Fulse and that is considering Fulse hasn't really done much.

Brannigan, a 3 star from under John Smith's nose is better than no safety at all which is what the Chiz did to us
