Lutz just posted this on twitter for Hoke to send to recruits. Such an awesome dude.

quote:

to the commits: don't make any drastic decisions about your future. I went thru the same thing my sr year when Tubs was relieved. Make sure you commit to a school an not a coach. Coaches will always be coming and going in your 4 years of college. If you love auburn for the school and people, please just be patient and see who is brought to lead our program. They will bring in the right person(s) for Auburn University. No one asked me to say any of this. I just want to help you recruits who are confused and worried about your future. Auburn will remain Auburn and that is what is important. War Damn Eagle and God bless.

Lutzie is awesome. I hope he's successful in the NFL. He's a great ambassador for Auburn

Dee Liner: No way he signs with us. Zero. Zilch. Not happening.

I am not saying he won't flip in the future (and believe he will) but I have it on about as good authority as you can have it that Dee Liner has not flipped yet to Bama/hasn't told the coaching staff this at least

Oh yeah not saying he has flipped yet. I'm just saying I don't see him signing with AU.

Dee Liner hasn't been in serious conversations with Bama coaches for at least the past two weeks or so. I think we can still get him if we have a good hire.

Just don't see us getting a good hire after what I have been hearing

Not to state the obvious, but we are really going to be in a crunch at interior DL if we strike out on Liner and/or Adams.

We're going to have a bunch of upper classmen up front on defense next year.

New Rivals article on Derrick Green.
quote:

"I'm just taking everything slow. It has all been kind of expected since you hear the rumors for a long time about coach Dooley and coach Chizik, so it's not that surprising. But it puts me in wait and see mode."

quote:

"I'm picking for the comfort level and the school itself. Coaches move around a lot so I have to be comfortable at the school I pick first and foremost."

quote:

"That's big because you spend most of your time with that coach. If Tennessee doesn't retain coach Graham or Auburn doesn't keep coach Luper, that would hurt their chances. I'm not sure I'd eliminate them, but it would certainly hurt because I have such an important relationship with them."

quote:

"The plan has always been to take our time and take my visits. I don't have any leaders or a timeframe. I'll see how things play out and make my decision when it feels right, but right now I still have more trips to take."

a. Liner has always felt Bama to me. He feels a lot like Calloway was last year, never seemed like he wanted to be here and I could see him staying on our list just to have a dramatic flip before signing day.

b. Why do people seem to dislike Luper? I have always heard his name on message boards but never really involved in any of the shenanigans. His running backs have been fine but not great. He seems to recruit well and is a solid coach, I would put him around the level as Gran was.

c. This class could be bad if we miss on a few positions and RB and DT are two really big ones followed by LB.

Gran >>>> Luper as a RB coach. I would absolutely love to have Gran back.

Ehh. I see your view but Gran put out multiple NFL backs.

Gran was involved in a completely different running offense to be fair that actually requires NFL style backs. Gran was required to coach north/south runners that had some size and could run between tackles.

Luper has been asked to coach smaller guys that are more versatile than what was asked of Gran. I still hold that Dyer should have been a first rounder if he wasn't such a turd and Tre Mason could still be a good player, but lacks the size to be a starting NFL guys or even a first day pick.

I don't intend to defend any of this staff, but I think Luper is a solid coach and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he stayed on when it is said and done.

Food for thought: In all 4 years Luper has been here, we have had a 1000 Yard Rusher each year.

Pretty solid fact. I wasn't arguing against Luper. Just throwing out a thought of many.
