Lol this deal is now trending all over the place. Get ready to hear how evil the braves are for exploiting their poor, international players.

Yeah but at the end of the day he's a millionaire.

I was shocked when I heard this. Was guessing like 7-8 a year before I heard the numbers.

Ho lee fuq that's a steal
It certainly could be but let's not forget that both Jason Heyward and Jeff Francour flamed out after very good starts to their careers.
I believe Francour was offered an extension deal and turned it down. Not sure about Heyward.

Its 100% a steal. He is averaging 5 million a year for 7 years. The MLB average salary is 4.5 million. Even if Ozzie never makes the all star game again and becomes Jeff Francoeur, he is still a bargain in today's financial climate.

So what? What exactly is the average for MLB players in their
1st contract? How bout the average for a 22 year old?

Perhaps but MLB salaries have actually gone down for the 2nd straight year.

The kid is starting his second year in the league. Not really sure I would expect him to make more than the league average or even close to it really.

yeah I agree. ROI is never guaranteed.

I wouldn’t say Heyward flamed out. JF certainly.

Yep, if he's a league average hitter, up to probably about age 28, that turns into a 3.5-4 WAR player with his speed and defense.
He's a guy in which personally however, I think his earning total potential actually wasn't as high as Ronnie's was, as some of his value is his speed and defense and that declines.

You guys noticed that no one was critical of the Astros after they locked up Bregman for only $100 mil?

Other clubs and agents are bitching, but the bargaining price had to start somewhere. Sounds like Ozzie made the decision to get a deal done after Acuna signed. The Braves probably made their lowest offer, expecting several counter offers from Ozzie's agent, but it's quite possible the agent took the first offer and signed it.

After agent fees and taxes, what is take home pay off of $35 million?
