I know I know....Tech sucks and it's our fault the game is at noon on the SECN. I'll take the grief lol.
I know this is primarily the ATL pro sports board, but since the UGA Sports guys won't approve me to post, I figured I'd ask here....is it common for the SEC Network to schedule game times 3 weeks out? Typically games are assigned a TV slot on the Monday 2 weeks prior to the game.
I expect this to be a 35-13 type of game that would be worse if not for Kirby resting guys in the 2nd half for the SEC Championship. At least the game is early in the day so that the chances of me getting drunk and destructive are far less.

It's been a noon kick every year since 2014

yeah I know that, i was just curious why they announced the times 3 weeks in advance.
i think everyone hates noon kicks, and typically it's associated with people thinking that it's because the game isn't attractive, but in this case I think the noon slot is "better tv" than the 4 pm slot because that game goes directly against Bama/Auburn on CBS. I would imagine that the folks at the SECN figured no one would care about Tennessee/Vandy, so they put them as the sacrificial lamb against the iron bowl.
but yeah, if tech was better this would probably be on an espn channel and potentially at night.

I honesty kinda like the noon kick for these. I never go since it’s Thanskgivinf weekend. For some reason I have a tradition of eating Thanksgiving leftovers and then having the rest of the day to catch the more compelling matchups

Both teams were ranked in 2014 and it was still at noon on SECN.

Only Tech game I've seen this year was the shellacking y'all put on Virginia Tech. That Oliver kid seems pretty good. Is he a better passer than Marshall? Or even maybe a better runner?

No way to know. They limit the playbook (reduce the option calls, etc) and changed the blocking when Oliver has played. Lots of QB sweeps, isos, and called AB and BB runs.
He threw one pass against VT which he slipped on (probably got nervous and antsy since he never gets to throw), but against UNC hit a wide open guy streaking down the middle of the field for a TD on one pass, and on another he rolled out and hit a check down. That may not seem like much, but we NEVER hit a check down like that.
It appears that Johnson saved his job for another year. Another 3 win season would have probably forced the AD's hand. Even if he loses out this year, he probably stays for another. I can't bring myself to pull for them to lose, but I wouldn't have shed a tear at the end of the year if they had lost out and he got canned.

I just read this explanation as a possible reason why it's always at noon:
Under the current SEC TV Deal when we play in Athens, COFH will almost always be the noon SEC Network game. The other 3 ACC-SEC rivalries are on opposite schedules from us (FSU, Clemson, and Louisville all host this year) which, combined with Thanksgiving and Black Friday games, really limits the SEC’s TV options for that Saturday. Egg Bowl and LSU/TAMU have been alternating Thanksgiving recently with Arkansas/Missouri on Back Friday. In even years that leaves 4 Saturday games:
GT at UGA
Auburn at Alabama
Tennessee at Vandy
LSU at TAMU or MissSt at Ole Miss
Auburn-Alabama will get the 3:30 CBS priority slot for the forseeable future. That leaves the other 3 games to fill the 3 SECN game slots. COFH is the only one in the eastern time zone, which makes it the most likely to get noon, to avoid an 11am CT kick for Vandy, TAMU, or Ole Miss. Even in 2014, when UGA and GT were both ranked in the top 20, we were noon SECN because of the SEC TV deal. Until Auburn and/or Alabama really fall off, just plan on COFH being noon on SECN in even number years.

That makes sense. Personally, I have zero issue with it being a noon game.

Noon games are the best for me.
UF/FSU will probably be on ABC Family.

I hated it when I was in school but now I enjoy the noon (11am for me) games.
I think in all of the years I have been watching UGA/GT, it was flexed to a night game (@GT) once and every other time has been noon. I don't ever remember it being at 3:30.

2013 @Tech was a 3:30 kick. I remember having to learn about Auburn's Kick 6 from some dude who had the ESPN app pulled up as we filed out after the game.

Ah yes, the blown 20-0 lead game and loss in overtime.
Wins and losses are all that matters, but there have been a lot of really close games with a bunch of flukey shite happening. Jasper Sanks and the recovered blocked fg. The Morgan Burnett fumble recovery which should have been a TD but UGA then forced the fumble into the end zone for a touchback. Demaryius Thomas dropping a wide open pass on fourth down. Richt squib kicking. It's either one of those games or a complete arse whipping by UGA. The only game Tech won easily was 2000. This year will probably be like 2012 in Athens.
