I can't seem to get approved over at the UGA board so I'd like to discuss the game here if anyone is interested.

I was looking at the stats from last year's game (I was wasted by half time and couldn't remember the details of the second half arse raping). UGA only had 9 possessions and still scored in the high 30s. That's not good. We've forced a lot of turnovers this year and that's probably our only hope to stop the dwags this year. I've noticed that their defense isn't as stout in terms of yards, but they've been blowing teams out anyways so it doesn't seem to have mattered.

I haven't been to Athens since 98 but am getting pretty desperate to see Tech beat them in person LOL. I don't see it happening this year but I'm thinking about making the trip over.

Force turnovers and don't put the ball on the deck/make stupid decisions if y'all decide to pass on us.

Our ILB play this season has left much to be desired so I think y'all will move the ball relatively well on us. We'll need to nab some turnovers to cut y'all off and try to rack up a bunch of points early on to try and put the pressure on y'all to throw it more and get out of your grind it out style of running.

I see UGA doing a lot of bending, and hopefully limited breaking this Saturday. We'll just need our offense to keep the ball away from y'all. We've proven we can shut down the run when the other team lacks a passing game, but Tech's running game is obviously a different animal.

I don't see a UGA blowout win. Kind of like 2011's 31-17 game. Of course UGA could say "frick you DirtyDawg" and hurt me again.

That may have been the best game Smith played last season, which is saying a lot.

I don't think Georgia will have much trouble scoring against GT. I am concerned about the defense, especially early in the game. GT has been on a roll and the two QB system seems to be working.

From strictly a college football fans perspective with a slight GT lean because I live in Atlanta, it’ll be tougher for UGA than last year but that’s about it. GTs defense doesn’t project to get enough stops and GTs offense will not score every time. Whereas UGAs offense just might.

Should be a good game. I think UGA is -17? I’d probably take GT against that to cover. I do think it’ll be closer than that.

If GT has to pass it won’t be close. GT needs to run right at them. Steady dose of midline option with Oliver who is about 4 inches taller than Taquon and about 20 lbs. heavier. He can get the tough yards whereas Taquon just can’t. Won’t beat UGA on the edge though it helps that Roquan isn’t there. The only other guy I have seen do that much damage to GT in one game was Jaylon Ramsey at Notre Dame. If GT can grind out 3-4 yards at a time and win TOP perhaps it’ll be a 4th quarter game. Maybe if they can squeeze TOP Chaney will abandon the run and we can take out chances against Fromm as opposed to Swift/Holyfield which I think is better. The LSU formula.

So is GTs defense not good? Haven’t really kept up with them too much.

How good is the pass rush? That’s the biggest key to making Fromm uncomfortable and beating UGA. Stop the run, and get pressure without blitzing.

Tech is forcing a lot more turnovers this year. Partly due to luck (as is the case with turnovers in general) but also partly due to increased aggressiveness. We don't necessarily show it in sacks (15 for the year) but we are blitzing more and forcing things more than in past years. With the way college football is these days, sacks are not necessarily easy to come by.

Last year, Fromm did whatever he wanted to. From memory, I think he only completed 13-15 passes but threw for at least 230 yards).

I like our chances (of making it at least a good game) a lot more if Oliver is starting qb. I think he runs the offense much better whereas Marshall is only good for huge plays.

From what I have seen is that GTs defense is improved from game 1 to now which is obviously what most first year coordinators want to see. It’s still not what it needs to be particularly at linebacker. Brant Mitchell and David Curry probably should be good depth pieces but they are starters. They sometimes take bad angles and they are not fast and athletic.

GTs Dline is actually pretty darn good. They have gotten some sacks this year which is more than we can say in previous years and Kyle Cerge Henderson plays with a nasty streak. St. Amour and Desmond Branch have been getting home a lot. If they are getting sacks they are collapsing the pocket and making QBs get off their spot.

I see potential in the GT defense with Nate Woody there. Nate is already familiar with UGA as well from the App state game last year, so Nate has a grasp of UGAs offense coming into this one.

If UGA get's ups by a couple of scores early it could get ugly. I just don't see Tech stopping our offense enough to make it a good game. It's a rivalry game though so we'll see.

yeah, maybe.

Tech was down 2 touchdowns in 2016 and came back. 2014 was just back and forth. 2008 was another double digit comeback.

those games have nothing to do with this years teams, though. Georgia is clearly better than those teams and Tech is probably not as good as those teams were (might be on par with the 2016 version, as they were also 7-4 heading in, but so was Georgia).

2013 saw Tech get out to a 20-0 lead and blow it, so who really knows.

Time to sink back down into my depression.

This UGA team just seems like it's a juggernaut compared to those teams. I feel like we'll score at will which is why I think if we get a lead we'll hold onto it.

Although our ILBs are the weakest point on our team so it may be a shootout.

Two questions for you Dwag fans...

1) do your mods never let fans of other teams post on the UGA Sports board? I've tried accessing it for at least 2 years and never get approved.

2) do you Dwag fans just like to make shite up and see if it sticks? For instance, there is a thread on your board that says: "GT Alumni actually said they will most likely stop our Running attack"

There isn't a sane Georgia Tech fan that even comes close to remotely thinking that. Here are the UGA rushing yards in previous games:

2017: 247
2016: 263
2015: 178
2014: 194
2013: 138

That looks pretty good to me, and I'm fairly confident that most Tech fans would agree that we aren't "stopping" your run game. This game will come down to, we can make one key play on a 2nd and 6 where we knock you back a few yards and force a 3rd and long which will then (hopefully) force a punt or FG. Our defense is not "stopping" you.

We have a collection of posters from other teams on the board. Wild Thang, CNB, and Rules all come to mind.

You’ll need a well connected UGA poster to back you up and vouche for you. As long as you bring discussion like this one to the board, I think you’ll easily get and keep access.

We have a couple of Tech fans on the board but I believe they came over from the old Rant. And I'm not sure how much our mods have been around since I've heard a couple of different posters say they've tried but haven't gotten access.

You mean like every other fan base and their message boards? Yeah, we're pretty normal over there.
