They are hoping the braves will remain competitive so they can bank big money profits without spending.

Liberty doesn't make a dime off the Braves. The Braves are considered an asset on their balance sheet only because the Braves don't lose money every year. That is all.

Yep, Liberty cant give or take money away from the Braves because it would be a securities violation of the contract that was signed with Time Warner when they agreed to take control of the team.

The full blame of the Braves not spending goes to McGuirk, the rest of the board, and AA. Either McGuirk wants to keep the money for the board and use it in the Battery, or AA is just scared to make the wrong deal because of his time as the GM in Toronto.

I think he might be gunshy because of the Syndergaard for RA Dickey trade

The “Liberty is raping us” narrative is so tiring. Even people and talking heads who know better play the Liberty card.

Do I wish we had a good individual owner who would be willing to pump money in for a run? Yes.

Is Liberty the the reason we aren’t (yet) spending more? No.

The organization believes in their prospects. They don’t want to piss away money on spots they may have already have plus players ready to fill in 3-24 months. Do you want to overpay for an aging outfielder when you will probably have the best and by far cheapest outfield next year or the year after? The same thing can be said about pitching and possibly catcher.

Give yourself some time to see what you have so the window for championships is long and wide.

I believe in the young guys and I’m onboard with AA.

Braves have apparently penciled in the rotation for the first two series+:

Phillies: Teheran, Wilson, Wright
Cubs: Newcomb, Teheran, Fried
Marlins: Gausman, ?, ?

Obviously that is 6 guys in the first 7 games and does not include Folty. Will be interesting to see the 5 they "settle" on, particularly when Folty returns. It feels like the Braves have 8-9 capable starters in the organization that could serve well through a long season, but still not confident there is a playoff-champion caliber "top 4." Looks like a bunch of good "third starter" type guys right now.

The proposed lineup looks good:

1. Inciarte (CF) against RHP / Albies (2B) against LHP
2. Donaldson (3B)
3. Freeman (1B)
4. Acuna (LF)
5. Markakis (RF)
6. Albies against LHP / Inciarte against RHP
7. McCann (C) / Flowers (C)
8. Swanson (SS)
9. Pitcher

Key bench: McCann/Flowers, Camargo, Culberson, ?

There is potential for that to be a really good offensive lineup. Defense is good for the most part too. Can definitely win with that.

Then there is the bullpen, which I fear is going to be just like last year.

Im enjoying Frenchy in the booth but I gotta be honest...I miss Joe.... He could bitch like no other. Its a shame Fox and the Braves let the Snowflakes get to them.

The backlash to Simpson questioning Soto's real age was pretty funny. All of the snowflakes were crying racist even though it's a perfectly valid question
