Soroka pitched 8 innings, 1 ER, 2 hits, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts!

Newk is coming in to try to save it in the 9th.

They finally did it, they gave Ozzie a day off. Was it a coincidence that last night he couldn't get a hit against their lefty starter? Anyway, hope it helps and Camargo has fun over there.

The Braves took the lead in the 1st! rbi double by Markakis, 1-0.

And the lead lasted all the way to the bottom of the 1st... now 1-1.

Braves lost 4-3. Jackson blew the save and Julio's win.

Can’t believe we lost like that - oh wait yes I can. Jackson has improved sure, but he’s no Kimbrel.

Jackson has had a pretty decent run but he’s not a closer. The only reason is was on the team is because he is out of options.

Edit: Nothing more than a 2 year deal and ideally after June 2nd so the Braves don't lose a draft pick. But at this point I would be ok w/ losing a draft pick if it was a short deal. Maybe 2 w/ a club option for a 3rd year.

this game was especially frustrating.

Pulled Teheran with 2 outs in the sixth after recording the outs in just 6 pitches. Only had thrown 94 pitches to that point and was clearly fine to keep going. The double switch also basically wasted an off day for Ozzie.

Touki threw 10 pitches in the 7th for a clean inning (including a DP to get the runner that Blevins allowed on). Because of the double switch earlier, they "had" to take him out for a pinch hitter which negates his strength of being able to go multiple innings.

Jackson has been used a lot, and for 2 innings a couple of times recently. This mismanagement forces Snitker's hand a lot of times in using guys that could use a few days off.

When you have Touki and Newk in the bullpen, use their ability to go several innings, even if that means they need to bat for themselves once in a non-run producing situation. If bases are loaded with 1 out, then fine...pinch hit.

We’ve blown 8 of our 21 save attempts. 38% blown. MLB average is 31%. If we were just average that’s 2 games to this point and we’re tied for the division lead. We’re not even halfway through the season so unless something changes you can count on another 6-8 more.

That’ll cost you the division and the wild card.

ETA 6-8 more than league average. We’d be looking at 25 blown saves.

ETA Kimbrel was “down” last year and was blew 11% of saves.
