Tennessee is playing like the home team and shooting the ball well. We've been playing catch up the whole game. Looks like we're still not a tough team.

I think the boys were too hyped, playing too fast.

Why do we come out so flat at home for the first 20 minutes? We trailed in this game until almost the end. I'm glad we won, but we were damn lucky we did.
I'm looking to see us come out in fire and punch a good opponent in the mouth.

Couldn’t enforce our style of play and bench with a complete no show.

Recent 2nd half woes have apparently caused our fans with shorter memories to forget that our entire gameplan is predicated on pulling away late in games. There's a reason we're 114-7 under MA when leading at half. We were up 4 against Bakersfield and won by 30. Time for people to remember to not melt if we're down a few at the half.

I remember our good teams playing even and then going on runs. We'd be up 5 or 6 and then 12 or 13 in the blink of an eye. Again, I'm happy we won. They proved tougher than I was giving them credit for. It could have just as easily ended in a loss for us too.

Our bench chipped in 5 points.

We listened to the postgame show on the way home, and Macon even told Chuck he basically told Barford at halftime that they were going to have to take the game over.
That's a great sign for the leadership of this team that we have ballers who can take over when things aren't going well.

I wasn't panicking after the first half, but Tennessee came out and hit us in the mouth. We weren't really able to impose our will on the game, so we played Tennessee's game at the beginning. I was at the game and the Hogs looked a little sluggish and out of sorts.
The way I saw the game flow is that at the beginning we just came out flat offensively and defensively. Eventually we kind of settled in defensively, but the offense wasn't clicking, so we couldn't reasonably chip away at the lead. Towards the end, the defense really jump started the offense. At that point we were settled in.
Things that concerned me were the FT shooting, bench production, and Beard. The young guys seemed a little surprised by the intensity of conference play, so the onus was on the senior guys to step up, which they did. Hopefully the young guys (and the bench) come out a little stronger next game and step up. I don't think Barford and Macon are going to be scoring 30 every game. Beard surprisingly hasn't figured out his role. The ball goes through him probably more than it should, but he's not as good of a facilitator as he needs to be.
