James Franklin is a P.O.S.

Certainly more realistic. I don’t think our fan base would like the hire, but then again, every “hated” Calipari until we backed up the chicken tender truck… What I’d be concerned about would be him having a Bielema type of tenure here. I really wish we could take swipes at guys like Leopold, etc. but even then. We need someone who can first shore up the program itself, find a way to work with boosters to get the support that we need to re-establish recruiting ties close to our state that we’re now losing to traditionally lesser schools and not competing with who we should be for a commit, and doesn’t get shaken by the portal. The portal magic working is crucial for anyone(it would be much better if it were better regulated and I think our donors would contribute more to NIL if players couldn’t basically walk at-will). So, I don’t know the answer for Arkansas because we seem to have willingly put ourselves at a disadvantage and it’s insulting given our program’s history.

What about James Franklin? Say he loses to Michigan and Ohio state again and feels like he’ll never get over the hump at Penn state. Could he take a chance at getting back into the sec? I think the guys a douche but he seems to win everywhere he goes
Why would we want a coach that was on the hot seat after signing that huge arse contract?
He won’t be on it anymore since the Big10 will get 2-3 spots but he can’t win the big games and most wanted him gone to USC except for the AD who gave him the huge contract.

We are sticking our nose up at a guy who made vandy decent and has won 10+ games half of his time Penn state now? ??

I don’t like him personally.
He is a star fricker that’s always wanted to be in a blue blood school. He is in one, if he comes here it would be because his star has fallen. He wants to be at USC is what all reports have said, but he had to big of a buyout and they got Lincoln Riley. We would be just a rebound school for him, and in the long run it would make us look weaker.
The truth is, we will get Rhett Lashlee, GJ Kinne or Traylor.

He would be another retread like Ford and Bert. Someone who is either burned out or made his money thus wouldn't care if he completely bombed at Arkansas.
I watched him on the sidelines during the Outback Bowl while in the fourth quarter. He purposely let the clock run down while still on offense when Penn State could have gotten back into the game.
He didn't care then and he wouldn't care if he came.

Penn State is one of the most overrated programs of all time. For a so called blue blood, they haven't won a NC since the 80s, play little brother to Michigan and Ohio State each year, overrated in the recruiting rankings, overrated in the top 25 before the seasons begin and can't win the big games.

I was at the Outback bowl and I can tell you that the Penn St. fans HATE this guy with a passion.

He rubs people the wrong way. Ok. He also wins. And nothing scandalous has come from out of his program.
I don't even think he leaves Penn state, nor do I think he would leave for us. Penn state is the premier program in the NE region and when you expand it and include the mid Atlantic they are the second most successful program in his time. Just behind clemson.
Saying all that to say, who cares if he isn't kissing babies and glad handing everyone in sight? He wins, and for all we know runs a clean program.

Of those three choices traylor seems to most sure thing. Is memphis' Ryan silverfield not being looked at as a potential candidate if the tigers do well again this year?

FIFY - thanks to all of our current and former coaches and AD staff
The sad thing is that we have the best damned fans that exist or we wouldn’t argue like we do or keep watching(even if some of us stop going to the games). It’s insane that we’re still a top 25 all-time program and usually easily top 25 in revenue. Sad that we can’t “fix” football’s culture issue.

Who else can we throw enough money at to get here that would be a decent hire? Matt Campbell?
Jamey Chadwell would be an absolute home run, but he is going to be in the running for bigger jobs this winter.

According to every report, he and his wife needs to be by the lake and isn’t leaving the south.
I suspect Gainesville or somewhere like that. Maybe Tennessee after Heupel shits the bed.
