Why won’t Mike recruit nationally?

He just waits for kin folks, Jucos, or easy pickings from one of LR’s AAU teams.
He was a lazy recruiter at MIZZOU and nothing has changed since he got here.
MIZZOU fans were right

He doesn't even recruit domestically.

I’m puzzled he was able to get Embery and Chaney.
He’s survived on instate talent, JUCOs and mid major role players for 8 years.
Who in the hell is he going to pull nationally with this staff?

Been gone awhile.
I see Drewbie is still as sharp as a tack.
We have a disadvantage in football, I get it. Would take a pretty special coach to keep us competitive there.
Basketball is a completely different story. It takes a mediocre coach to keep us from excelling.
If the upper crust of fandom that posts on here can see it,
are we to believe that UA athletic administration does not?

The problem we have now is that its been proven that we can be an elite basketball program, yet we aren't anymore after Nolan's ugly exit and the coaching decisions that followed that.
World looks a lot different had we had the balls to hire Bill Self then.
Now...we're stuck with valid expectations that far exceed current levels of performance...meaning someone really must be highly motivated to REBUILD the program and weather the storm while they do....or you hire a coach who people like and who'll win just enough to barely keep his job.
Mike's assistants are just poor. That should be pretty obvious given the number of advancements to other programs they've made (0). Contrast that with Sutton and Richardson (Mike himself being an advanced assistant).
Sadly the only real answer now is to get lucky and hire a young Bill Self type (future elite, not current elite) before he's gotten the attention of one of the established powers who needs a coach. There's no logical reason for an established and proven elite coach to come to Arkansas anymore.
I say...gamble and try to hire one ala Chad Morris in football....might work...might bomb....but I applaud the effort to TRY something different.
Its a certainty that Mike will win 18-24 games...go no further than 2nd or 3rd round in the NCAA and consistently leave you scratching your head about which players they play when and why they won't play halfcourt defense or even try to rebound.

Pretty impressive that Creighton and Nebraska are both that high in the same state. They have more than a million fewer people than we do.

People first need to accept and move on from 40 minutes of hell.

Yep, when you look at the talent we produce as a state in football vs basketball. It is really amazing. Just hope the basketball stays that way long enough until we stumble into a great coach.
