quote:Agreed, Richt had one problem, he didn't allow rule breakers, and thugs to play or they would have won an NC or so I choose to believe.
I have a hard time finding fault in Richt. Guy's got Miami relevant for the first time in nearly 20 years. Always thought he just got turned into the goat at UGA.

Richt was #uncommon

I've always thought that just judging by how dynamic our offense can be at times, followed by some of the most bone-headed drives you've ever seen, can we really put 100% of the blame for offense ineptitude on the OCs?
I've definitely been a Chaney hater but Georgia seems to be doing A-OK with him calling plays, because you know Kirby aint calling them(right?).
Seems like Bert constantly tries to override play calls, we just seem almost schizophrenic on offense. We've seen flashes of brilliance from both OCs, but when the pressure is on, we get anemic and predictable and/or batshit insane. Anybody else got that vibe?

Georgia fans will shite bricks if Richt makes the playoff there this year and Chaney finds a way to choke away a game or two. Which could easily happen
Miami is having the exact type of season Georgia would have if they played in the ACC Coastal division. Lets look at a couple snapshots:
Barely got by Georgia Tech at home
Barely got by a 2-5 FSU team
Struggled all game with a 1 win North Carolina team
You don't even have to leave Miami-Dade County to fill a team with four and five star athletes down there. He is doing the type of job I would expect him to do, above average most of the time, playing below expectation at other times.

Yea I don't think ive watched a game if theirs. Pretty depressing hearing Pittman turned their oline around that much in 1 year though.

ohhh for pete's sake...
He didn't recruit ... good lord, forget it.

quote:Just for the sake of clarity, I see the point you're trying to make, but I don't think the fact that under Pittman we were a fumble in the endzone away from beating Alabama at Alabama football and now we can't even get a running back 50 rushing yards against South Carolina a year removed from some of the worst sacks/hurries allowed numbers in a single season I can remember at any SEC school is a coincidence.

I think turned into a goat is a stretch. He had plenty of time to win a championship...and thats what big time programs do. I took this from a miami board, so take it for what its worth:

Worst class ever was #11 on 247 and #15 on rivals. both better than our best ever lol. People around here talk a good deal about how we shouldn't settle for mediocrity. UGA is sitting in a talent loaded state with rabid fans and tons of resources, while watching two of their biggest rivals (UF/Aub) plus bama and LSU all bring in the titles.
Richt is a good dude and extremely likable. but you can't blame georgia fans for being over him....and they are looking justified with what the kirbs is doing in his first 2 seasons as a coach

No, he didn't recruit those players, but they sucked arse last year, and they're number 1 as of right now. I really don't think 1 class of recruits is going to make that turn around without some coaching.

Yet the point most have said regarding Pittman , was that he didn't recruit well enough. Very few complained about his coaching.
And now... he doesn't have to recruit much at all, with all of the talent in GA and surrounding it immediately.
He did not recruit the OL this playing this year for the most part. He would never recruit well enough here to do that well.
But most likely, nobody else will either.

I think our problems still start at the top with Bert to be honest. Dude doesn't know what he is doing... Alvarez kept him in check.

Bert’s success at Wisconsin and the fact that they haven’t missed a beat without him throw back the curtain on how heavy of an involvement Alvarez maintains in the football program.
He’s coached in two bowl games since he retired for God’s sake, one of which they won. Could you imagine Broyles doing that?
When you look at Bert’s iffy coordinator hires, his complete mismanagement of the roster, and general air of cluelessness, it’s pretty apparent that he needed and was getting a ton of direction from Alvarez. The Markuson firing had Alvarez’s fingerprints all over it.
Bert’s career is like fast food advertising. You see this beautiful, mouth-watering big burger on TV that looks like it could feed a village, but you get to the restaurant and you get this smashed up, soggy garbage the size of a half dollar and you remember “oh yeah, someone spent a ton of time making this shite look good so I’d buy it.”
