I wasn't calling for him to be fired, but I had given up on this team even before the bad losses... They just weren't a good team and really didn't show anything at all that would lead you to believe that they would get better, much less considerably better.
x2

Our decision making as a whole on both sides of the ball was abysmal. It was extremely hard to find positives early in the year. Even things like hustle, motivation, and effort seemed to be lacking. That's what will turn me off a team. Unreal how far they've come.

I definitely thought they would improve, but didn't think we had this kind of ceiling.

Put me in the demoralized column. I wasn't down on Musselman or his coaching ability. I just felt like this year's team had no chest. Glad they have proven me wrong.

Definitely didn't think we would turn things around this year after the Vandy loss

0-3 SEC start brought back memories of Pelphrey. It didn't appear as if this team was going to play team ball at that time. They certainly put all that behind them and are playing like one of the best teams in the country now.

Looked like early on our chemistry was all messed up with Lykes and Notae competing to be head ball hog which just trickled down to other selfish behavior from other players and even affecting defense.

I just chalked this up to a recruiting miss on these transfers but Muss has worked a miracle getting these guys to gel as a team.

The potential talent was always there but now we're seeing it come to fruition.

I wrote this team off at one point. Guess I'm the dumbass.

Me too. I just thought well this team just doesn’t click together and Notae is good but too much a ball hog. But dang if they didn’t just come together.

I don’t usually bitch about players too much (I mean some of course)- I kinda feel guilt regarding Notae. I want to meet and him and personally apologize in that hey you don’t know me way but you’re a badass and I questioned you. How many hail
Mary’s do I need to say to be forgiven?

Umude not clicking early really hurt the team early in the year. He was forcing things early on here and the offense was ball watching Notae. Now there is more movement and Notae can see the floor better and Umude has really come on.

this year and last year look really similar in the start. stop, gel, and finish. I know people said even when we were winning early who kept saying "this team just isn't very good." "we can get better, but this team's ceiling isn't as high"

I remember year one muss used a 6'6 guy as our big who had never done crap under Anderson. I knew then that muss could squeeze more out of a kid than anyone else could imagine. so I am not surprised how we are playing. I just didn't think it was very likely.

I dont think I ever posted it in those threads but I'll forever stand by what I said back then.

His sticking with Vanover for so long this season is one of the more baffling coaching decisions since Nutt refused to start Matt Jones, then play him the entire game.

Vanover did not improve in the SLIGHTEST from last season. His shooting may have actually gotten worse. Why he didn't let one of those junior/senior transfers get comfortable in the offense/defensive sets sooner will forever boggle my mind.

Full sail ahead on the muss buss, just still do not get that.

I personally think that it has to do with Muss personality. He is strong willed/stubborn to a fault, but that is what drives his desires to win, and achieve at a high level as well.

Takes him a while to see, listen, but look out because it will be figured out sooner or later.

frustrating to say the least, thank God he is ours!
