lot's of staff turnover on the defensive side of the ball. seems like bert realized the coaches on that side of the ball weren't gonna cut it in the SEC and set about replacing them. doesn't seem like he's even attempted to keep any of them.

partridge gone
ash gone
taver gone

good to see some changes happen after going 3-9. excited to see what the defense looks like this season

Partridge is his boy and he would have tried to keep him for anything less than a HC job. I was very happy with the DL last year too. The rest? Ehhh not so much.

Partridge hurt. Other than that they are replaceable.

Wow, what a fricking stretch on Partridge and Ash. Unless this is a attention or troll thread, this says everything I need know about your future football posts.

I don't think it's a stretch on Ash. Bret didn't really do anything to try and keep him. With Pittman least year it was obvious but no counter offer was ever reported for Ash that I saw.

Pittman is the best coach on staff. I would melt if we lost him.

No doubt we all would. We need to do everything we can to keep him out of the NFL.

Ash took a pay cut to go to Ohio State. I don't think Bret was too upset that Ash decided to leave.

The only place this might hurt is that Taver was the lead recruiter on Froholdt. Now he has lost his DL coach, his lead recruiter and his DC. Eventually he might question WTF is going on and open his recruiting back up. Hopefully not.

Who knows, there are so many variables to why each kid commits. If he loves the current players, the campus and coach Bielema then it won't matter much. Plus I'm sure Segrest has contacted him and started to form a relationship.

If it was a kid from the states I would worry more but with Hjalte not being the normal American kid enamored with Bama, I think we are good to go. I mean he visited back in May and then for the South Carolina game this past year when we got killed and the coaches, school everything blew him and his parents away.

I'm not really worried about Hjalte. At first I was worried about Knarf's friend but then I realized we've got Segrest and Pittman on him, not Taver.

Eh I don't know. I think 2B's could have kept him around if he really wanted too

I mean hell, Shannon has had the opportunity to go be a DC or head coach elsewhere but decided to stay here and be a position coach. Then Bert did what was needed to keep him around this go around by promoting him to assistant head coach

That is the same title Partidge had, the only way to "move him up" would had been as DC.

ah yea forgot he had that title

which makes me wonder if bert knew he was going to have to give that title to shannon in order to keep him, knowing he wouldn't take the DC position. telling partridge to take the head coaching job at FIU so he could.....

FIU is a dumpster fire of a program, the only thing of note from them was getting into a fight with Miami a few years ago during a game and hiring Isiah Thomas as the men's basketball coach.

FAU's program was started with Howard Schnellenberger in 2001, Partridge will be FAU's third coach taking over for Carl Pelini who replaced Scnell in 2011.
