Well you'd have hoped to have Kirkland back, Koehler was as complete a bust as a 4* that graduates could be.

Bielema would have as soon as doused Petrino's OL recruits with gasoline and lit the match than let them see the field for him.

We've got Johnny Gibson and Klint Harvey getting talked about in the 2-deep. We're pretty dang thin on the OL.

The most disappointing thing about the last recruiting class for me is the fact that Agim was the only early enrollee. Our peers are bringing in 6-10 EE's a year. If we're suppossedly only recruiting "uncommon" young men, you'd expect there to be a pretty high percentage of those with their academics in order to graduate early and get that early jump and extra time in the program that all coaches say is instrumental to growth and preparedness.

they'll figure it out, hopefully sooner than later.

One thing is for sure, I'm not going to allow smoke to be blown up my arse this offseason. I'll be optimistic about this year, but with a wait and see mentality.

Agreed. They talk folks up way too much for me to believe them. The only place I know we'll be for sure good next year as an entire unit is WR. Everything else is a crap shoot.

Speaking of coach speak...

Coach Anderson on Hjalte after practice today:

quote:

"(Hjalte) Froholdt has typical growing pains for a guy who has not played the position in terms of reps," Anderson said. "At times he shows flashes and is very encouraging. Some things come natural for him. I am happy where he is at this moment. We have to learn from our mistakes and we have to be better overall. He is a doing a great job and he is only going to get better. He will be shocked where he has come from day three to practice 14. He is a coachable guy and there is no doubt he belongs with first team."

Hjalte seems like the kind of guy that is going to excel at whatever position or sport you put him in. He's definitely got the body to play OL and I doubt this is the first time he's ever blocked anyone.

If he's a fast learner as Bielema mentioned then he's probably already had a good idea of OL technique from practicing against them every day.

I still expect us to struggle as a team though because we lost a lot of pieces from last year. Of course so did a lot of other teams so I'm holding out some hope.

I think they're putting Froholdt with the 1's so he gets the most reps and is around the more experienced guys who can teach him what to do. We'll need Froholdt to round out our 2 deep, and he has the longest way to go to being ready considering he just started playing offensive line. Plus you get the added bonus of lighting a fire under the other guys competing for a starting spot. If he starts game 1 I'll eat crow.

A thing that has stuck out to me. Bielema last year talked about Hjalte and said when he knows where he's going he arrives strong, fast and physical.

I think the structure of offensive plays will benefit him greatly compared to finding the ball on defense.

I've only seen one with him and Town making a throw at the same time in a drill. You couldn't really tell much from it.

What are your thoughts?

Ty has the weirdest throwing motion of any of our QB's. It's like he pushes the ball with hardly any whip

I've not liked Storey's play much as I liked Ryan Stanley out of Hollywood, FL of that class of QB's much much better.

On his hudl video you can see 2A defenders getting to him, not much evasiveness, and he often seemed to just chuck the ball out there and it'd float a bit and he'd get bailed out by Charleston's WR's. I've thought all along that he'd have the hardest time of the bunch adjusting to the SEC game speed.

He's got tools no question and it'll take a real QB coach like Enos to coach him up. You can't take away Storey's accomplishments on the field at Charleston but he's got to improve greatly to be the player he's been hyped to be. We're bringing in talent at QB it's gonna be a dog eat dog world for QB's in Fayetteville for a long time to come.

Yup, smart choice actually as Alex Wood was hired as their coach right before he chose to go there.

I love that kid's game. smart dude too and a good leader despite looking like white beach trash.

He balled out on 7A South Florida competition and flew under the radar big time. I'll be watching FA&M to see how he does.

Cosign.

I love Bert and this staff, but I'm not getting snowed by the coaching staff farting rainbows about how great everyone is this spring/fall camp.
