Listened to pundits on NW AR radio, then LR Radio. They were shocked as well. Coach Morris was shocked as well.

I still laugh, here are my reasons.

1. There are 32 NFL teams.
2. There are 7 rounds in the NFL Draft. Totaling 224 total draftees.
3. At present, there are 103 early entrees into the draft from non SR/Grad players... Leaving 121 total spots for all grads, etc.
4. That my friends, is terrible odds for a player whose draft stock has lowered a bit.
5. He had one awesome season, followed by an injury and red shirt, followed by this last season. He got terrible info in this decision.

It's probably not his draft grade but the way he was treated by the coaching staff after the MSU thing. Who wants to come back to a terrible team where the coaches don't have your back?

Who wants players, no matter how talented they look compared to the rest of what we had (does the term tallest midget resonate at all?), who flaunt their crappy attitudes by focusing on cheerleaders during pregame?

Sure...I wish he'd stayed and shown some good old fashioned team attitude, but that didn't seem to be in the cards.

Its not like dude was all anything. He's a good player and I wish him the best, but stop the cheap shots at a staff that would have loved to have him on board, but aren't willing to compromise standards to make that happen. This was on him, not the staff.

So you guys want to cheat to get better players, but when they talk to cheerleaders they should be suspended? Chad has never had to deal with media before, a media member called him out and he panicked. No way in hell they should have been suspended for that, and the only reason they were is because D.J. Williams brought it up.

And I'm sure the team got the message from the suspension. "Guys, we're the type of team that loses to Mississippi State 52-6. We are NOT the type of team that talks to their cheerleaders."

He obviously meant this level of media. Every local news station in the entire state of Arkansas has a dedicated bit about the Razorbacks. SMU would cream their pants if they could get more than 30 seconds of airtime on a local Dallas news station. Lol

Nothing is obvious on this board. I have made the mistake of assuming that many times.

Sure, the levels are totally different. I 100% agree and acknowledge that but I also don't want to pretend like he is some guy that is answering questions for the first time in his career. It was also almost a full year into his job here.

That knee jerk reaction and the choke job whatever team that was were the two worst strikes against him this season imo.

There were two writers that covered SMU, and they didn't always cover them. The SMU staff had to beg for media coverage. He's never dealt with this before.

It's like he wasn't the head coach either and didn't have to be accountable for difficult decisions.

Didn't this all happen in the post game press conference? He didn't have those at SMU? I understand the level is different but still.

No, he didn't have members of the media calling him out at SMU.

You're asking if he had postgame press conferences at SMU?

I'm fairly positive of that but I wasn't actually sure if the incident (DJ bring up the photos) happened in the post game press conference.

We are splitting hairs here folks. I think most of us can agree with Stonehog's assessment that Morris has never been in a situation like he is now when it comes to the media.

As Texas High School coach he's certainly dealt with high expectations and a rabid fan base. But the Razorbacks, more often then not, are THE story in the state.

We can argue about whether it was the right call to come down hard on the players for flirting with Moo State cheerleaders until we are blue in the face.

We fielded the worst Arkansas football team in the hundred plus years history of the program. Bert might get the lion's share of the blame but there is more then enough to go around for Morris, his staff, and the players.

Yeah, but I don't really agree with the conclusion. I don't think Morris "panicked". I think he just saw it as a perfect excuse to try and get hard with the team. Not saying it worked, just saying that he jumped on the chance to try and look tough. I don't feel comfortable defending or criticizing the move he made because there is still so much we didn't know. DJ never released those pics, right? In the grand scheme of things I don't think the suspensions are really going to matter when it comes to his fate.
