Some recent comments indicated that some may wonder why anyone would move from Reno to fayetteville.

Well, as someone who has actually been to Reno and it's area, I can say without question That the Reno region is by far a more beautiful place than NWA.

Travel 50 miles west of Reno, into the Lake Tahoe/Cali border area, and it is possible the most stunning, lush, alpine landscape you will ever see. And lake Tahoe itself... There's nothing that can prepare you for its sheer natural beauty.

Snow skiing in 45 minutes. Napa Valley and the best wine country in the western hemisphere, 3 hours. Vegas in 7 hrs. It's actually not a bad location at all.

... But... If you've ever been Reno itself... Well...It's much more akin to the surface of Mars than any kind of mountain town resort. It's not terrible and it's by far no tiny town. But it is also just a few hundred miles away from the most desolate, radiation-ridden former bomb test sites on the continent. Go east of Reno 50 miles and you're literally in hills have eyes country.

Climate:defiantly Reno. Cool dry summers, cool semi-snowy winters.

But NWA overall... Probably far better. Especially Whnw your making $2.5 million/yr.

This is a weird angle to take. In absolutely no way is Reno better than Northwest Arkansas. Reno is basically hell.

Reno is a good place to fly in and out of when traveling to Tahoe.

The only real redeeming quality Reno has going for it.

Proximity to Tahoe is Reno's saving grace.

When you make millions per year, skiing and beaches are always just a short private jet flight away, so no big.

Day to day life in NWA is probably better.

Not for my money. The carse river valleys found all across the Ozarks are almost unparalleled in my book. Not saying it's the absolute nicest place in the US, but I like it a lot. Because I'm the type that likes to crawl all over the hills, not just look at them from afar.

fify

Reno is depressing in and of itself... unfortunate because it has similar topography as Denver on a smaller scale. Decisions local governments make...

Kind of what I was implying.

Tahoe is God's paintbrush. Reno, and especially east, is a wasteland. They could literally shoot Mad Max 5 there.

I'd agree with that. I've fished and floated many rivers in Colorado, and the Buffalo River is an absolute treasure by comparison to most of them.

Actually just this week Fayetteville was ranked the 4th best place to live in the US. Reno was named 33th. So according the reports it ain't even close.

Now from a.personal POV. Went through Reno about 3 years ago. And went across Nevada. Have a close friend that lived in Arizona for 20+ years and surveyed all over that state and others. Reno itself is mostly pretty ugly Tulsa type place, only in desert. From there is gets worse and is just a wasteland. I tell people that there's a reason gambling and prostitution is legal in Nevada, otherwise nobody would go there.

That's like saying Gary,Indiana is better than Fayetteville because it's close to Chicago.

You said it better than I could. I took Amtrak out west through that area and there are some unbelievable areas not too far from there but I vividly remember the brutal topography of Reno and how depressing it felt.
