Presidents get four years, so I'll give Chad that.

Should be ample time to see if he is more than a high-school coach.

He doesn't have to worry about the APR the first day on the job.

The roster does have talent left on it for him, he will have signed an entire roster in that amount of time, see if he can recruit what is needed in the SEC or if we are a version of aggy lite because Texas doesn't play defense.

Step one is to assemble a competent staff and get to recruiting. A class ranked higher than 30 will be the first red flag about him as HC at this level, basically we can't afford a drop off from where Bert was on the recruiting trial.

Arkansas should not have missed a bowl this year, and for sure shouldn't miss a bowl next year with the weak schedule. Fair or not, a Bertesque first season shouldn't be tolerated or expected.

So I'll take a wait and see approach and if after 4 years he isn't cutting it, cut him lose and try again.

I'm really struggling to find excitement about the hire as it reminds me of the Ken Hafield hire, hire an older guy who is coming off of "great things" at a lesser program yet still has a dismal record as a HC while the next big thing is just across state lines and passed over for "issues", lets hope he isn't on the schedule to play the hogs in LR anytime soon.

Wasn't Hatfield one of the best coaches we've had?

I agree though, he needs a few years. I'm not as patient. Lol. I think he should win big in year 3.

This.

The extra 15 bowl practices would do wonders for this team.

Who is to say Switzer would have done better then Hatfield here? I admit, I see where you are coming from. Hatfield only won 75% of his games here.

The guy is a bum obviously. We should seek legal action against him for not winning more of his games here.

Wasn't talking about Switzer.

Switzer would have been Gus, he wasn't coming...

Like Gus, Morris will have to adjust his offense some to beat the good teams in the west. Must have badass linemen on both sides and can't run crazy tempo all game against the big boys. After Gus' debacle (LSU Game), he slowed his offense down enough that his defense wasnt on the field so much getting burned. And we all know Auburn has better defensive talent than Hogs will. Hope it doesn't take Chad 3 yrs to figure it out.

He’s only 49 and been a head coach in college for 3 years.

Worst Defense in the league.

Signed the worst class in the rankings era to Arkansas.

Incompetent staff on on the offensive side of the ball.

Worst than Bert, worst season ever in fact.

Nice bump.

My optimism stemmed from Cole looking ok in last year's offense. So, with expected improvement in year 2 and a lot of the defense returning, making it to a bowl was a realistic expectation.

I guess the question is why did Cole regress so much?

Cole Kelley stats per sports reference.com

2017 - 87 of 151 57.6% 1,038 yards 8 tds, 4 ints, 127.5 rating

2018 - 35 of 67 52.2% 449 yards, 5 tds, 5 ints, 118.2 rating

Not much change from 17 to 18, but clearly no improvement
