Weird, all the coaches I want won or are winning.

Norvell, Memphis - beat Houston 45-27 now 9-1

Gotta admit, the way his team is playing and the results speak for themselves - Norvell is a home run.

quote:

Pirate, Wazzu - beat Stanford 49-22 now 5-5

Everyone will foolishly point to his record this year as a reason he shouldn't get the job, but that's stupid. He's in Pullman WA beating teams historically WAY above them in the pecking order in a down year.

quote:

Clark, UAB - beat UTEP 37-10 now 7-3

The fact that UAB is even playing games is a testament to Clark's loyalty and push to keep the program alive. Winning records and fundamentally sound play is just the cherry on top - dude can rebuild a dead program.

quote:

Campbell, Iowa State - beat Texas 23-21 now 6-4

Not the flashiest style or flashiest coach, but the man can build a team in his image and have them disciplined and competitive. Getting Iowa State rolling and taking down UT with MUCH lesser talent speaks to the kind of coach we want and need here.

Drinkwitz, Appalachian State - Winning 35-21 at half v. GA. State, 8-1 record

Unproven but trending upward at a nearly vertical delta. His stock is rocketing towards a P5 gig sooner rather than later, do we take the chance? I personally would be ok with it if the above coaches fall through; today's "big name" coaches all started somewhere. He would come and it would be his dream to be here, but does he have the chops to turn the flagship around?

Bonus:

quote:

Kiffin, Fau - Idle 7-3 record

The thought of Kiffin has been growing on me ever since someone Photoshopped that image of him in Razorback gear standing in RRS and SOME part of my brain responded with pleasure. He wants to be here and I wouldn't see him leaving anytime soon, like others fear. His recruiting excites me and if there's one coach to build a new brand and personality around, it's Kiffin.

I'd be excited about any of the above, they all bring different things to the table that would give me reason for optimism.

I want Clark so badly. He just seems like the puzzle piece that fits right now.

Just feels like Clark is a fallback choice for many, but damn that guy can coach.

His defensive efficiany is phenomenal BTW. He just is a guy that could totally stabilize the program.

Yeah with Clark you know what you're getting for sure. He probably won't win you any championships but your team won't look stupid or make boneheaded plays, and everyone will give their best effort every week.

I'd love to see what he can do with more talent and resources. He's #3 on my list but it's more like #1c, with Norvell and Leach right there with him.
