I agree, if something doesn't change quickly we will be like Tennessee has been since 2008. It may get much worse before it gets better.

Who said nutt was a better coach than petrino? That wasnt anywhere in my post.

I heard it in my own head.

Anyway, I did hear something today in re: to who is seriously being considered as a top candidate for our coach next season and it did make me feel a lot better about our situation, if true.

ETA: And no, it came from a good source, and not from my own head.

I still think our talent is better than it has shown. We have some talent, but not enough, on defense.

It really wouldn't be in the best interest of this particular coach for me to say anything specific that I've heard due to his present coaching situation. However, I do believe he would be a pretty good hire considering his overall strengths and ability to recruit. Nobody can be absolutely certain at this time but I do think this person has a better chance of being hired than most of the other coaches we've heard about over the past few months. And yes, his name has popped up.

I disagree.

Our offensive line is horrible as well.

In fact i would argue that after this year were screwed all around.

Considering facilities, revenue and potential (Petrino has shown the program can have success at a high level) this is a much more attractive job than in 2008.

We have JLS b/c the job was open in early April and the guys you want are already working on spring practice/games. We have to be patient until after the season, whcih does suck. Sucks a lot.

Oh dont get me wrong. Off the field i agree were way more attractive than were in 08. I was only speaking of on the field.

The actual Oline isnt the problem. The coaching on the line is the problem. That group has been the same and not progressed since Klenakis got here.

I agree. We've had problems with the OL for quite some time and I don't believe we're lacking talent.

bullshite.

We have great bodies and great athleticism on the Oline. Its not being coached properly and has not been coached properly in 3 seasons.

Alvin Bailey is the same as he was when he was a man child as a freshman. Swanson the same.

Brey Cook has all the tools, that every school under the sun wanted him. Mitch Smothers is a hell of a lineman.

There is plenty of talent on the line

Quarterback
Offensive Line
Defensive Line
Running Back
Kicker
Punter
The entire Team

Now you list what was better off when Petrino got here.

I could spend entire weeks proving you wrong on various topics

quote:

Quarterback
Nutt: Dick, Dick
Petrino: Wilson, Allen, Mitchell

I might concede this position based on Wilson alone. The others add nothing, and both Allen boys were coming to Arkansas either way anyway

quote:

Running Back
Nutt: Michael Smith, Brandon Barnett
Petrino: Davis, Johnson, Wingo, Williams, Holmes, Roberts, Walker

Nutt > Petrino when it comes to running backs period.

quote:

Wide Reciever
Nutt: Crawford, Reggie Fish, Salters
Petrino: Hamilton, Hatcher, Herndon, McKay, Horton, Minor, Wilson

Nutt's wide receivers couldn't catch the ball in critical spots, and neither can these guys.

quote:

Offensive Line
Nutt: Petrus, Luigs, Love, Grayson, Dominguez(false start)
Petrino: Swanson, Bailey, Peacock, B. Cook, Smothers, Boyd, Ward

wtf is with the false start next to dominguez's name? Why no similar remark next to peacock's?

quote:

Defensive Tackle:
Nutt: Sheppard, Askew(thats about it)
Petrino: Jones, Jones, Thomas, Hodge, Davis, Green

Once again you didn't list all of the players who Nutt left behind, but be that as it may, no one outside of a few Petrino Huggers thinks one group is better than the other anyway.

quote:

Kicker:
Nutt: Tejada
Petrino: Hocker

Punter:
Nutt: Jeremy Davis
Petrino: Breeding

Neither coach left a reliable backup at either position , so this is a wash.

Now let's move on to intangibles.

Did Petrino leave behind a single assistant that you really want back?

Did Petrino destroy recruiting on his way out the door?

Did Petrino embarrass the football program possibly beyond repair on the way out?

Petrino fricked us. Why you're too stupid to realize that is beyond me.
