just don’t think bringing Noland back on short rest is the right move. I think you hope like hell you make it through this game somehow with Hagen/Tygart/whoever else can throw strikes but not meatballs and then throw Noland tomorrow.

It’s 4 days rest. Noland threw 79 pitches, not 110. Those 79 pitches were pretty damn easy and not stressful.

Long picture here…You pitch Noland today and he is ready for a turnaround on Saturday as well…That means you have McEntire and Noland available should you make it to champ series…

Hogs win today, tomorrow is a guaranteed scoring fest like OSU regional you hope you come out on top of…Pitch your ace today to make sure there is a tomorrow.

We have to put someone out there that will get ahead of hitters... other than Noland, not sure who that is.

Again, while I wouldn't be surprised to see Tygart start, he nor Smith have shown that they will get ahead of guys consistently.

The first couple of innings will likely decide the game.

It's 3 days rest. He last pitched Saturday. I do agree that due to the lack of pitches, if he's available, you start him today.

It's also the reason that I mentioned pulling him early vs Stanford.

Only thing I’m worried about here is if Ole Miss brings Deluca back tomorrow then we’d have Smith against their #1, and knowing Bianco he’ll throw him until his arm falls off like he did with Nikhazy and Hoglund.

Problem there is, he pitched 114 times on Saturday. He normally rests 7-8 days after that kind of load. If we win, I do think we would see him in the second game but not to the degree of 100+ pitches

Yep and you can bet your next paycheck ESPN announcers would run Bianca through the ringer.

Not how it's calculated but I like you're thinking.

He brought back Nikhazy on a Monday for a little bit last year after throwing 109 pitches on Saturday so it wouldn't surprise me

Phil and Bubba calculated it the same way last night.

Nikhazy came out for about 30 more pitches. My guess is they will do the same with delucia and Elliot tomorrow if we force a second game. So if we are fortunate enough to win, we will need to get through 60-ish pitches from their two aces tomorrow but then I would assume after whatever happens tonight they would be pretty bare

If it was generally calculated like that in baseball, you'd see your best starters pitch games 1-4-7 in a 7 game series, but those days are long gone, with the exception of rare instances. If you pitch game 1, you rest game 2, off-day rest, rest game three and pitch game 4, that's 3 days of rest. Instead, they'll pitch game 1, then game 5.

Here's an article on it from a few years ago

Regardless, if Noland gives us our best chance of winning, then I'm good with pitching him. On the other hand, if our best chance of winning two is to pitch Smith, Tygart, Morris, etc., with Noland against their ace on Thursday (4-days rest for him), then I'd go with that.

Well we know for sure noland can’t pitch both days. So somebody has to step up today. Which includes the guys slumping at the plate. Noland should be near 100% for tomorrow.

Then we pray for rain or hope the other side plays tomorrow as well so it’s a level playing friend.

I think our best shot at winning 2 is saving Noland personally. But our best shot at winning a championship would be pitching Noland tonight so he is ready for the finals. Tough call, but I understand the logic in both

He was only at about 50-55 pitches when that game was 100% decided. He should be a full go today unless we made a big mistake on Saturday. DVH isn’t dumb. I think he’s known Noland would start this game since Saturday.

You go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win tonight. I think that’s CN.

Yep, and the byproduct of that decision is that it just happens to fall in line that he would be available for CS.

One game at a time.

Either way, our bats are going to have to knock this LH starter for Ole Miss out early.

Arkansas needs the bats to step the hell up and give the pitching a chance.

Why do you and a few others keep harping on the bats? Like, what do you guys want? 30 hits and 25 runs a game?

In three games at the CWS the bats have produced 45 hits and 33 runs.

It hasn’t been an offense issue since the regular season. Even in the loss to Ole Miss, there were 8 hits and 5 runs.
