I used the phrase “empty calories” quite often to refer to most of our players’ offensive stats since they were propped up by shitty midweek competition, as epitomized by Slavens batting nearly 50 points worse in SEC play.
Conversely, look at guys like Webb and Wallace who actually performed better in conference play.
