Not with Noland struggling right now and if you lose on Friday then it is very possible.
I figure we’ll start McEntire game one of the regionals.
As we’ve seen this weekend there are several dangerous 2 seeds. Vandy and Texas are national title threats and are projected 2 seeds.

Ladybacks #4 national seed.

I know but we are talking about Noland who could turn back to bad Noland anytime. This is his best year but these last two weekends looked like the bad Noland of last year.

No way DVH does this

Yeah I’ll bet you my paycheck next week that he ain’t starting McEntire game 1 lol
Nothing against the kid. He’s looked great lately. But DVH ain’t gonna do that. Most exotic he may get is to throw Hagen game 1

Sad because the bats were suppose to be a strength on this team.

Last year he started Caleb Bolden game 1. I think it’s pretty standard to throw your midweek starter against a 4 seed.

If anything changes, it'll be the batting order.
Hitting was supposed to be the strength of this team. The pitching albeit suspect at times has done enough to win ball games.
Moore struggling to stay above the Mendoza line is just part of the issue at the plate.

Team looks tired, disinterested and are bottom of the SEC in hitting.
Holy shite you’re right.
I didn’t realize our team BA had tanked as much as it has, but I just checked and indeed we’re tied with South Carolina for bottom of the SEC with a crisp .272 team average. We’re 6th or 7th in almost every other offensive category, but hits and BA we’re near the bottom.
Conversely, in terms of pitching stats, we’re 3rd in ERA, opponents’ BA, and K’s.
Hobbs has earned his pay this year. Too bad he’s getting zero run support.

I said this last night, but IMO Noland overachieved most of this year and is simply regressing back to the mean.
He was basically a non-factor in our bullpen last year and had a 6+ ERA on just 9 appearances. It’s not out of there realm possibility that he’s simply been playing over his head for most of the season.

As a Yankees fan, this Hog baseball team reminds me of the Yankees teams of the last few years.
Overhyped offensive lineup with an overreliance on the long ball (and walks) and can’t hit for average, and survives on a piecemealed pitching staff.

Moore is trying to do to much. He thinks he’s a switch hitting home run guy. I wish he’d pick a side and try to hit for average.

We’ve seen guys have average careers and make massive jumps their senior year. Kopps and Campbell come to mind. I think Noland is pretty good. He started as a freshman.

I disagree. Last year Noland came back from injury before he was ready. This year, he has been a very solid Friday night guy. He has had a rough couple of weeks but is still doing fine locating his pitches and with his velo. I believe he will be fine going forward. Leads the team in K’s, has the lowest ERA of the weekend staff, and has only given up 3 homers all season.
He is a ground ball, pitch to contact guy and the last couple of weeks our shift has bitten him and a few other of our pitchers in the arse.

I think that was a very unique situation for us last year, especially considering Pallette had just gone down a few weeks earlier.
#1 seeds either throw their Friday night guy in round 1, or if they feel really good about the matchup, they’ll throw their Saturday night guy in round 1 and save their ace for game 2. Midweek guys starting game 1 is very very rare.

I went back and looked at stats and results and this team feels a lot like the 2017 team. Similar in BA, HR numbers, and SEC series record. Lost a couple scrappy games in the regional to Missouri state and was done.
One thing that stood out to me was that C-SPAN finished with 20 dingers that year. I remember he went on a tear in the postseason (in Hoover especially) but I would not have guessed he had that many.
Who knows how we finish but this team doesn't scream great or have that it factor all year. But I also didn't think Miss State did last year either.

He was never 100% healthy last year. He wasn’t bad his first two years on campus

Way too high. I'd ,honestly, be very surprised if we win a Regional. Every team that has the potential to face us will purposely save their lefties for us. That's the strategy I would go with.
