Quality thread #89

Memphis promoters bringing back RiverFest announced Wednesday the first phase of its music lineup for the Memorial Day weekend event.

Making the list of performers includes Young the Giant, Young Thug, Kip Moore, Jamey Johnson, Highly Suspect, LANY, Margo Price, Echosmith, Steel Union and Levelle Davison.

Anybody heard of these guys/gals?

Organizers said they have a few more headliners they're still working on pending contract negotiations.

Headliners will perform on two main stages, according to the organizers.

The festival will also showcase family-friendly activities such as the Ford Family Fun Zone, which will have carnival rides, a Baggo tournament, a banana derby and performers. Skai Jackson from Disney Channel's "Jessie" will have a meet-and-greet at the festival.

Tickets are on sale now at RiverFestArkansas.com. They include the $40 general admission weekend pass and $55 unlimited re-entry weekend pass, which are only available through April 30. VIP weekend passes begin at $150. Single-day tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.

Organizers say the trolley will also be running for free to alleviate hassles of parking in the downtown area.

Only ones I've heard of are Young the Giant and Young Thug. Young the giant is a decent band. Young thug is trash for the most part but has his moments. He'll be the biggest name getter for the young crowd. Easily the most famous person in that lineup.

Highly Suspect has several songs that get significant playtime on alternative rock stations, My Name is Human is pretty awesome and so is Lydia...if you like that kind of music.

The Soul Rebels featuring Talib Kweli

Talib Kweli is a legit top 20 MC of all time. I saw Blackalicious burn the fricking house down at MJQ concourse in Atlanta one year, leaving any following acts basically hopeless in trying to match their performance. However, Kweli came out an more than held his own.

His recorded work with Mos Def (BlackStar) and his solo work speaks for itself.

As you are only about sixteen this hardly comes as a surprise.
