A glaring issue today and going forward has to be a lack of contribution from the younger recruiting cycles. There have been opportunities in the DB, TE, DL and possible WR groups for some one to step up. It hasn’t materialized. Outside of Rocket and Slusher, I can’t think of a single Pittman recruit that has made an impact.

Perhaps more pressing is there are currently 8 defensive players still on the roster from the 2020 & 2021 classes. These are the classes that need to develop for Arkansas to have success.

That young RB has been impressive when he's gotten carries.

Yes. I was happy to see Quincy recover a fumbled punt return to save our Bryce. Lol. Too many close games and I guess they don’t feel like many outside of Dubinion are really ready.

Next year will be when we really see how good this staff is at developing players. Even if we hit the portal hard this offseason the younger guys will have to contribute. We lose too much for them not to.

Ummm….The below are all contributing. Specifically OL and WR are upper class heavy with it being more difficult for underclassmen to crack the rotation. If you watch special teams, it is littered with underclassmen.

Soph. WR Ketron Jackson
R-Fresh DL Cameron Ball
Soph. RB Rocket Sanders
Fresh. RB Rashod Dubinion
Soph. DB Jayden Johnson
R-Fresh WR Bryce Stephens
R-Fresh LB Chris Paul Jr.
Soph. DE Landon Jackson
Fresh DL Nico Davillier
R-Soph. Jacorrei Turner
Fresh LB Mani Powell
R-Soph LB Jackson Woodard
R-Fresh OL Josh Street
R-Fresh OL Jalen St. John
Fresh OL Patrick Kunas

With the new era of NIL and the portal, you’re going to have to change your thinking on recruiting and players seeing the field.

I count 36 defensive players currently on scholarship. We will potentially lose 14 after the season. Numbers alone are concerning.

We're obviously going to have to hit the portal very hard next year, including QB.

Every team in the country has younger players on special teams. That isn’t indicative of them pushing the older guys for snaps on offense or defense.

Most of those listed are solid contributors. Guys on the OL are going to contribute but they aren’t going to replace 3-4 year starters. LB & RB is certainly where we’ve been getting younger contribution as well as WR and DL.

Pittman hasn’t had a ton of attrition, so his teams are going to seem to always be upperclassmen heavy with redshirt opportunities for the younger guys.

James Jointer has seemed negative on twitter. Freshmen RB, I bet he goes to the portal

Arkansas is so used to having
So many players play as true freshmen that they were unable to build depth.

It is harder to build depth on the offensive and defensive lines because it requires more player development. WR and RB are easier. LB depth at Arkansas has been a problem for years. But next year at least they won't start as true freshmen.

He doesn't have a lot of attrition is because unlike Chad I think ran off almost 40 players in two years, Sam was trying to build a culture with keeping the players he has and playing what he had at first.

I think our coaches recognized the severity of our rebuild and prioroitized experience with our roster. COVID was quite helpful in this regard. Nice that the young guys haven't had to get thrown into the fire and can redshirt

so you'd just like to put out a junior varsity team every year

go with guys who've either only been through one offseason weight training, or zero offseasons

screw the guys who've honed their skills for three years and gotten bigger faster stronger

our run defense is 27th in the nation and somehow you're not happy with our DLine...

I don't know if the aggies have a good offensive line but they got 192 on the ground.

they got 70 on just one play because Drew Sanders botched a read

that one play was more than a third of their total rushing yards

we all love Drew Sanders, but he's getting an arse chewing from his LB coach tonight for freelancing on that one

You miss the entire point of the thread.

The lack of young players pushing Clark, Blair, and Brini for snaps is concerning.

The lack of young players pushing Knox is concerning.

One WR with a catch that isn’t a senior.

We want to build depth but there is an entire void in the middle of the roster whether it be from talent or simply numbers.

We barely played Dominique Johnson at all as a freshman and he’s obviously really good. I just don’t think this staff likes throwing freshmen out there unless they’re forced to

I haven't missed anything

2 months in, and you think true freshmen should be noticeably "pushing" upperclassmen.

the "Clark and Blair" strawman had gotten ridiculous I don't know how many weeks ago
