I hope so, and think it likely is. However, if it isn't... does that change anything for you? See the above and proclaim your thoughts on that...

I do not think mike is a bad coach. I just have doubts he will ever have the talent in all positions, at the exact same time, to win big.

He has a problem of having a dominant big one year, and poor guards, and vice versa. Its like we never have everyone in place at once.

But it is. I am certain this is a tournament team this year. If for whatever reason they don't make it, sure, I'll be pretty upset. I haven't really given it much thought though because I've been pleasantly surprised so far and doubt that changes much.

Hell, I've been more than pleasantly surprised. I thought this team would take a step backwards this year, but I agree with Stansberry. They're much MUCH better than I thought they would be.

that is the point, we (those of us with a sense of intellect) can be pleasantly surprised at how well this young team is doing overall, while still being disgusted that we haven't done anything of note since MA has arrived.

Freaking Frank Martin, White at Florida, Pearl at Auburn, Barnes at Tenner have, or are achieving more in less time than MA has here.... FWIW, You are one stubborn or futile dude!

I wouldn’t say disgusted for me but definitely not overly impressed t’all. So basically I agree with ya.

I really wanted to extra love this team and tout them as the best thing since sliced bread but I can’t trust myself to judge rationally when we’ve been in such a dearth of sports goodness and I’m starved of being cocky and I love basketball. Then Saturday happened and it’s gonna take a minute to get to back to where I was- but right now I’m still good with this team and I do like them. Need to be better than Sat tho going forward. .

Yes, but all of those things are irrelevant! We may as well still be bitching about every season since Nolan Richardson left.

If that's what a "sense of intellect" does to the question of "is this a tournament team?" count me as an idiot I guess.

In any event, seems to me like maybe I shouldn't have started a Mike Anderson thread. I had no idea so many people would be so touchy on the subject.

And in an effort to not be stubborn (read, knuckle under to group think = Reverend? ), I'll not bring the subject of Mike Anderson as a coach again.

If the same coach is still coaching, how is it irrelevant? When shades of the past start to creep up in this current team, you can't expect people to not talk about it.

I feel like Al Pacino. I try to get out and they keep dragging me back in.

What exactly happened for there to be shades of the past? We shouldn't have lost but I think we can all agree this team was playing above their expectations so far. It was going to come down a little bit eventually. If we have another real struggle before conference play starts I can see what you are saying.

If you wanted Mike fired before the season, then I don't think anything that has happened so far should change anyone's mind yet. The same is true for the people that want Mike to stay. Still way too early for this reaction imo.

It is irrelevant that other coaches, some with much less of a pedigree, are doing better in shorter periods of time than MA at Arkansas?

Dude!

Then what is the purpose of this thread to begin with, I mean... your the one who began with the Cal vs MA with this thread. Yet, I haven't even used the epitome of success "Cal" as examples of faster success at less or equal programs... Good Grief! this isn't group think, this is common dang sense.

3 tournament appearances in 7 years
0 weekend trips to the 2nd round
Likely will miss the tourney this year

Hell, give him another 5 years and then they can hang a curtain over the upper level in BWA.

Yeah, nothing to see here...…

If we are being really honest with ourselves here, this team has won the games it should have won. It has lost one game it should have lost. The loss this past Saturday should have not been a loss.

You can point to Indiana as being a win possibly Arkansas shouldn't have gotten, but even they are occasionally screaming for a new coach and have been beaten by one of the top teams in the nation handily.

Point is, has the team really played above expectations with wins against UC Davis, Montana State, UTA, FIU, Colorado State, and Indiana?

Yes, it is even right now. Indiana and Western Kentucky

I mean if you are purely looking at a Win or lose, No. It would be even at this point to me in that basic view. Not sure why we would do that when we have the games to watch. This young team has so far surprised me with how well they have worked together. If you want to argue that the standards were too low to start the season and that is Mike's fault, go ahead. I won't be arguing with that.
