Clearly this means Calipari isn't the man for the job there, right? How can a team with such talent possibly lose to Seaton Hall?

Wonder if they'll even make the tournament, the frickin bums.

Yeah, and like Mike, all those opening weekend exits in the big dance should have his seat hot.

Oh wait...

This isn't the hill you should die on for Anderson. There is no comparison between the two. Cal is in the thick of it every season while we're usually trying to figure out how many more wins we need to get in the tourney.

I agree with you that this team shows signs of a team that can get hit and make a run. It doesn't absolve Anderson from not having the team ready for a home game vs WKU.

I wish we would win every game we play. But I also understand that every team loses games that they shouldn't lose. Every team does it every year. Except on very rare occasions.

Such as Kentucky. Few years back they went through the regular season and the conference tournament undefeated. Until they hit the NCAAs. They lost to a team they should beat. Ended their magical, undefeated season with nothing to show for it. It's basketball. Thems the breaks.

ETA: With a team as young as this one, games like this are to be expected. They have to lose a few games to learn how to win at this level.

Kentucky's problem that year was that they could have served themselves well to taste defeat at least once that year. When all you do is win, you get complacent. That team never learned not to lose.

In Arkansas's case, this loss will be turned into a powerful teaching tool. And they get a whole week to pound it into these guys heads before they play again. Hogs will probably win next Saturday bigly.

It is not that folks hate Mike Anderson. If anything we may love him too much.

Its that he has certain flaws that we all know. But we will keep supporting him until he's gone because its Mike.

Mike Anderson winning a national title would be the greatest thing to happen for the school in a long time. The problem is that we have to ask will he ever be able to do that?

He has done nothing but trend up since he's been here. Sure, it hasn't gone as sharply up as any of us would have liked, but we are still headed north. This team is the best one he has had yet, IMO. And because he is who he is, he deserves the chance to bring it home.

Otherwise, we don't deserve it ourselves.

You don't turn your back on a story 30 years in the making when it's just starting to get good.

So long as this team doesn't trend South, Mike is our guy.

I would be willing to bet this team doesn't finish as well in the sec standings or go as deep in the tournament as Bobby Portis' last year here.

Mike will never get us to the promised land. A nice guy but sadly he has reached his peak.

Since Mike took over we have averaged 6th place in the SEC, and that is not going to improve this year.

ETA: The SEC has been a garbage basketball conference during this timeframe to add insult to injury.

When is enough enough?

Now average first half of tenure and second half.

You don't get rid of a coach who is continually improving.

It's a silly argument I guess anyways. He isn't going anywhere.

And... There is the reason we aren't as high on MA as you are. He will remain right where he is!
Not move up as we wish!

Will do.

11-12: 9th
12-13: 7th
13-14: 5th
14-15: 2nd
Average: 5.75

15-16: 9
16-17: 3 (tied with 2 others, so 3-5. Entering 3 to be generous to Mike)
17-18: 3 (tied with 1 other, so 3-4. Entering 3 to be generous to Mike)
18-19: ? (not looking promising)
Average: 5.0

So what your telling me is that if we wait about 20 more years we will be competing for 3rd in the SEC?

No. They're gonna do fine either this year or next. No doubt in my mind. So really this entire argument is silly. He's safe for a bit, and it won't be much longer and we will be back in the mix.

I've heard this for the last 4-5 years. Where is the line? What is the breaking point?

From 1977 - 2001, Arkansas missed the NCAA tournament 3 times.

We are staring down the barrel of missing the NCAA tournament 5 times in Mike's 8 year tenure.
