If you don’t know Jason, he’s the guy behind everything Pig Trail Nation does on KNWA. He runs the whole thing. This is a sad day for Arkansas sports media, Jason hustled more than anyone I’ve ever seen. He was at every game and every practice for every sport, he didn’t just send people out to cover things like other producers.

He said he’s doing it to spend more time with his family, but I also think it’s because the University has made it so hard for the media to cover anything. They’ve been squeezing the media out more and more, trying to control everything that comes out of the athletic department. Good example was when they hired Chad, all the media was at the airport just trying to get a shot of him getting off the plane, but the in-house media was already on the plane with him doing an interview.

Pushing media away is going to be important with all these new rich NIL signees.

If a local station was smart they’d sponsor a player and get ‘sclusies (exclusives).

The smart thing would be to hire one on each team, maybe offense and defense for football, and have them doing a podcast.

I can only imagine the dirt that would come out. Also I can only imagine the playing time that gets taken away, if it is worth listening to. Otherwise it will be bland sunshine pumping.
