As badly as we need something, ANYTHING to happen, it's just impatience kicking in at this point. He won't be fired before the end of the season, I think Long still wakes up in cold sweats over the last interim coach he had to put in place. As much as I'm ready to have the "CBB is fired" bandaid ripped off quickly I can realize it's for the best this way, as nothing is gained from doing it now and going with an interim.

We don't have a season left to save or any reason to do it now and possibly turn off recruits and coaching candidates. Plus you don't want to put the players through that if it's avoidable, same with the coaches (who are human after all). Not to mention the toll it takes on recruiting this year's class when we have no real HC for months instead of making the changeover quickly post-season.

I could see letting him go in-season if there had to be a vacancy to put out feelers and begin discussions with replacements, but that is simply not the case anymore. I know with certainty that we've already began gauging interest from agents and other sources. Regardless how the rest of our season or the rest of the potential coach's season plays out a coach still knows if he'd be interested to some degree.

These last 5 games will make this football season feel 10x longer than the seasons we're used to.
