I doubt it will be one of the worst defenses with Pool, Slusher and Catalon. It could be worse but better than the Chad years.

The current roster would see Clark, Gordon, Turner, Blair, and K. Johnson getting significant playing time. Two walk ons, two lowly rated 3*, and a retread. I’m sure these guys give everything they have but let’s not pretend that’s a talented bunch.

If the season were to start today we would have the worst defense in the SEC and possible all of P5.

ALL of P5 huh? Have you paid attention to any team outside of Arkansas recently?

Even losing the production we are, there are MUCH worse out there. Much, much worse.

We might not be world-beaters on defense, but we'll be respectable even after losing our guys from this year. Calm down.

Right? If the loss of foucha and brooks dropped us to worst defense in the P5 we weren’t going to be very good next year anyway

Someone might need to run out back and check the overflow valve, looks like Tardville might be leaking again

Worst in all of P5

Clearly that dude doesn't watch much college football outside of Arkansas games, or else he'd realize that even the top-tier teams are giving up 20-30+ points in games now. Our defense is closer to the top teams than the worst, and we still have better recruits and athletes than a lot of the lower tier P5 schools based on being in the SEC alone.

Plus you never know who - or how many players - will step up and out perform their recruiting rankings. Look at our producers on defense last season, were any of them highly ranked recruits? UGA just won a national championship with a walk-on at the most important position in the entire game, too.

I think we'll have some studs and serviceable defenders emerge out of nowhere like we always seem to have, especially since they're in good hands in Odom and Co. Snagging that 5* LB transfer from Bama would certainly help and he would fit in well with our scheme, I'm sure Pittman is on it as we speak.

The TLDR version is that we have no idea what will happen, what stars will emerge, or what the roster and two-deep will even look like come fall. But they're in good, experienced hands that know what they're doing and how to develop players to fit in the SEC.

We haven’t landed a top defensive recruit, outside of slusher, for the past 3 seasons.

But by all means, if you think we have guys that will “come out of nowhere like we always do”, go for it. You must have missed the last decade.
