Reviewing his contract, Malzahn would owe $500k/year ($1.5M thru 2020) AND for his assistants contracts not retained by Auburn or not hired with him. 1st review shows AU Assistants are currently paid ~$4.3M/year total with 2-3 yr contracts. DC Steele $1.1M/yr- 3 yrs.

So what's the grand total so far including Bielema's and Long's buyout?

Plus if Gus is not fired and they try to hire him, that's another $7 million for his buyout. I honestly think Auburn would MAKE Arkansas hire him away and not fire him just for this very fact am that it damages a direct rival financially.

Absolutely they would. Not to mention the fact that Auburn would be foolish to fire him to begin with. The guy just beat the #1 team in the nation and still controls its own destiny.
This all gets back to what I was saying about these dudes making these calls in Fayetteville right now. They better damn sure get this next hire right.
If the next hire doesn't pan out the entire department is looking at losing half its net worth next year.
This is the sort of shite that takes many years to recover from.
