Cal was asked asked by a booster about interest then put into contact with Yourachek.

Kiffin was asked by a booster about interest then put to to contact with Yourachek who wasn't able to close the deal.

Then Pittman wanted to be here.

He didn't make the big hires at Houston. Long was brought in to bring the program into the 21st century as far as branding, marketing, facilities, etc. Hunter was brought into hire winning coaches. Unless the boosters do his job for him, the success rate has been low. You let the boosters handle the football job and you end up with chaggy as a result.

Exactly.

And let’s not forget that Yurachek got lobbied by former players to hire Pittman.

Former players (the committee) also gave us Nutt.

The (then-current) players also lobbied for JLS in 2012.

Moral of the story: next time we hire a football coach, let’s just tell any former lettermen with an opinion to sit the frick down.

Arkansas really needs a strong AD that understands the strengths and weaknesses of Arkansas.

Before Frank Broyles took the job in the late 50s, Arkansas had more losing seasons than any member of the SWC. He understood what it took despite his faults later on in his career and ruled with an iron fist that kept dumbass boosters in line. He should have retired when Arkansas joined the SEC but he was too stubborn and pushed Terry Don Phillips out the door as he wasn't going to wait on him forever. He ended up hiring Dabo at Clemson that was mediocre for decades. If he took over for Broyles then he could have gotten Dabo at Arkansas or even Butch Davis. But of course we always do things the hard way that makes no sense.

Now we have an AD that has no spine and will let the boosters run over him as they have no respect for him unlike Broyles.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

DVH needs to be AD when he retires.

Battle cry for the Petrino fans

It’s the truth. Hell the offense has improved this year. Jumped dramatically when we played the right quarterback in Tennessee and today.

For decades they always blamed the fans just need to accept 6-6. You know what 6-6 will eventually get you? 4-8 and when have low expectations then you get lowered results. You always strive for excellence on and off the field.

The United States has a population of 330 million and the best that they could do was Sam Pittman? That is such BS and I know several Arkansas high school coaches that were more qualified than cold beer for the job.

The problem with him is the boosters want an arse kisser and I don't see him as that type.

Ive given this thought and was trying to allude to it earlier - what coach that has arrived or been here during his tenure doesn’t or hasn’t look pissed and battered down eventually(Cal’s too new right now to include). Not defending Pittman either, but I agree - shite rolls downhill…
